Tattoos in BTVS and Angel

I just wanted to hear what you think about Tattoos? Cool art or physical desecration? Do you have one or more?
Furthermore I want to collect Photos of the Tattos in BTVS, I know that Xander, Cordelia and Buffy have Tattos. Who knows about other characters with tattos? Is the tattoo on Angels shoulder a real one? Post photos please!

I think Charsima has about 8 tattoos in all, all over her body. I know that one of them is a blessing/protection one for her son.

I dont mind tattoos. I have 3. I have a black sun on the small of my lower back, a scorpian on the left side of my stomach and barbwire around my right ankle (none are Buffy related). I dont regret having any of them done and I do think that they can be quite addictive. I can understand some people not liking them, but I do.

Nick Brendon Has: a cross on his right shoulder/arm, a Latin-esque symbol on the inside of his left bicep, a surfing Jesus on one of his arms (inner right bicep?) and four angels. IDK if the angels are with Jesus or what, but he says they exist.

Eliza Dushku Has: an Albanian Eagle on the back of her very-upper back, the word grace on the back of her neck, 'Lead, Kindly Light' on the side of her hip, a cross on her left ankle and a feather on her ribs.

Charisma Carpenter Has: rosary around her left wrist, sun on her lower back, a lion's head on the top of her left foot, D² on the inside of her right wrist, ∞ on her left ring finger (where her wedding band was).

Smidge Has: cherry blossoms and a Chinese symbol on outside right ankle, double dragonflies on her lower back, heart with dagger on inside right ankle and some kind of Celtic symbol on her left hip.

Aly Denisof Has: dolphins on the inside right ankle, kanji symbol on lower back and turtle on left foot.

David Boreanaz Has: soul and destiny in Chinese, one on either wrist.

Christian Kane Has: ...too many to remember. His back and calves are a shrine to his Cherokee ancestry. I do believe his calves are an eagle and a wolf, but not sure which is which.

Glenn Quinn Had: '"Erin Go Bragh' on he right shoulder and a harp on his right.

If I can remember anything else later on, I'll post about it.

I'm not really into tattoos, they look cool on some people, but I think they can look tacky too. It depends what you get, one of my pet hates is this conversation:

Friend: I'm getting a tattoo!
Me: Oh really, what are you getting?
Friend: I don't know...I just want one.

I think it's silly to just "want one" for the sake of it.

Indeed. I want something in honour of my child, and I have a vague idea of what it should be, but I've decided to design something and then wait a year or so to figure if I still want it.

I have mates who've got them on whims, or to commemorate a relationship that they've been in for three weeks. What the heck? It's a permanent decision. I think people don't think enough about it.

(And I hate the foreign trend! All the 'Chinese' symbols and phrases in other languages that have no actual relationship to the person getting the tattoo. Oi!)

I could not agree more. I don't care if someone else wants to get a tattoo on a whim or something...but I just could not. If I did get something Buffy related, it would have to be small/insanely meaningful. You should definitely know why you get a tattoo/what it means to you because it's forever. I just don't get why people get their spouses' name tattooed on them. I might get one with my sister one day, because she'll always be my sister.

OMG this is soooo true. Lmao. I remember back in high school this associate of mine got his first tattoo, and it was a Chinese symbol. I asked him, what does that mean? And I forgot what he said, but he was like "honor", or "pride" or something. Turns out, it meant "vagina". Hahaha. I've also heard about this woman who had Chinese tattoos on her wrist, but they actually spelled out "My abusive husband pimps me out". I was cracking up laughing, but in actuality that's really sad. People need to know what they put on their bodies, seriously. 😀

I have a fairly large phoenix on my left arm. It's basically from my shoulder to my elbow.

I love tattoos. And I love when they have a really interesting meaning behind them.

Tats are cool with me, but I just don't like the people that overdo it. Like I'm all for expressing yourself by whatever means necessary, but this is just to much for me, personally:

Nothing against Travis (c'mon, I've got some Blink on my ipod 😉), but tattoos like that are so unnecessary, IMO.

I like them when they're done properly. My parents have a few and I think they look quite cool. I'd never get one myself as I hate needles but if they could be applied in another way I'd get some in a heartbeat (would be a song title from Sigur Ros or something from Morrissey and a daisy).

I have 8 tattoos and I'd like a couple more before I stop. It can be very addictive but I prefer to have a meaning behind mine not just for the sake of it. Each one I have represents a time in my life that was important or has an important meaning.

Personally I don't have any tatts. Thats because my parent are strict against them. Maybe when I am older I'll get a small one. It will probably looks like one out of BTVS. Maybe the one which Nicolas Brendon have. But I am not sure. I think it's very important where and how much and how big the tattoos are. If you place them wrong or if they are too big, it doesn't look nice anymore. Do I want a tatto? I don't really know. Do I need a tattoo? Surely not. It's a difficult question which everybody has to ask hisself.

I like tattoos. I'm a sucker for a sexy alternative guy with some good ink. My opinion is that tattoos should mean something to you. On the other hand, I feel like people that get tattoos 'because they look good' are well within their rights to do so. Why not getting some beautiful just for beauty's sake?

Myself? I have latin writing across my back that read 'nothing but the best' and is on Everton Football Club's crest. I also have a stylised version of their crest underneath which I got alongside my dad and uncle after qualifying for the cup final. I also got a blue and white striped 'toffee' on my foot.

Things may change in life and I know that my opinion on many things will be like rubber, changing with only little pressure applied but the one thing I can guarantee? I will never stop supporting Everton.
