Teacher's Pet or IRYJ? Which is the worse episode?

First Date would probably be the contender from that season. Apart from that I don't think there is another episode anywhere near as a bad as either one of these two. It maybe an unremarkable season for some, but I don't think its because there are many terrible episodes.

Another thing which doesn't work for me is Xander's response when Buffy tries to presuade him not to meet Miss French. First of all he knows that Buffy doesn't like him so why would she be JEALOUS!?😱 And also why would he not at least consider that Buffy's warning might not be true? She is the Slayer and this is the Hellmouth afterall😉

I think that some of season 1 & 2 are kind of overly criticized (mostly seemingly cause of the FX). While some episodes of season 6 & 7 are somehow praised cause the FX are better and cause they're 'darker'. Personally I find most of season 1 & 2 considerably more re-watchable than either season 6 or 7. Frankly season 7 was barely watchable the first time round. In my opinion that's mostly due to the deteriorating writing after Whedon left day to day operations of the show.
 
I love I Robot, You Jane because of its theme and the cheesy fun.
It helps that I have a soft spot for silly computer stuff in movies and tv series though...

IRYJ also has a whole bunch of great and funny scenes. Much more so than Teacher's Pet.
Absolutely love the Buffy version of a spy in a trenchcoat for instance. 🙂

You could spin that around though and say that because the early seasons are commonly viewed as being stronger than the later ones, then episodes from that season are often given a rough ride. I would say that there are many more weaker episodes in the early seasons than in 6&7, but then again there are not as many great ones maybe in later seasons, and the overall storytelling is maybe not as good.

I love that moment as well. Very cute, would have loved to have seen more of Buffy in that attire😛

It's exactly why Willow didn't believe Buffy when she told her Malcom was bad news. Both Xander and Willow are incredibly insecure about themselves and their worth. All these years, no one paid attention to them, including their own families. So, to have this one person who shows interest in them filling them with confidence and acceptance in a way they never felt before - then Buffy marches in and tells them, no, those people must be EVIL. No way would anyone find you attractive. Not Buffy's exact words, but it's how Xander and Willow taken them. That's why they acted defensive.

Also, at this point, Xander didn't know that Buffy didn't like him back. He still hasn't asked her to the dance.

Still the fact that he would even suggest it seems very random and odd to me. He and Buffy are just friends and she doesn't know yet about his feelings for her. Even if Xander in somewhere might hope that she likes him in that way too it still doesn't seem credible that he would just leap to that here.

Well having rewatched Dead Things last weekend I'm defending that episode for a start😛 I think its really strong with a good atmospere, great direction and bold storytelling.

I think the issue is that your are remembering the overall storytelling of S6 and linking it to random episodes. You have to judge the episodes on their own. Guess I would agree that Wrecked is really bad, but I still don't think its on the level of these two episodes😉

Watching Dead Things makes me at times feel queasy. It's like a poor man's Consequences- trying to be daring and edgey and coming across as sleazy and boring.
The only bit that's anything is the Buffy/Tara scene- powerful stuff.

Not really. The problem with S6 is that many of the episodes simply aren't strong enough to stand on their own.
The arc...watching the whole thing is certainly better than watching it week-to-week but its still a slog in that middle portion.
I would also add 'Helle Belles' and 'Entopy' to my list. 😛

Its supposed to me you queasy! That's the point of the episode. The only bit that doesn't work for me is the scene with Buffy and Spike outside the police station, that was very sloppy. Besides that I think its a great episode, and would maybe put it in the top 30 ever.

A great episode! Cute, quippy, Stranger-Danger on the internet, and I think many of us girls have had that slight tiff with or friends about some guy we don't like them liking or vice versa. Besides, touching with Dave's death. Pretty good all in all until Malcom got a lame robot body, that was a downer.

Oh well you fooled me because by highlighting that terrible line I assumed you were on the hate said of the fence😛

Like I said there are good things in the episode, but its let down in the second half. And the bad is so bad that it far out weighs the good. But then again its still better than TP😀
 
Do you think Moloch's lame robot body was the inspiration for Tony Stark to build his first Iron Man suit, in the Afghan prison? 😛

I agree. When they attempted any elements of sci-fi it just never worked. The show was best set in the horror/fantasy realms.
