Team both as well! Also, I swear my neighbour's cats are cuddlier than my dog is...
I've had a family cat (when I lived in fostercare) but as I'm technically allergic to cats, I can't live with them long term. Seems to be depend a bit on the type of breed though… If I wasn't allergic I'd get cats and dogs. As it is, I've only had dogs myself and I do love dogs quite a lot. Like whenever I see a dog on the street it takes every ounce of strenght not to immediately run up and tell it what good dog it is!
Down-side with dogs is that it is sometimes like having a toddler.
Another, more personal down-side, is that my dog specifically doesn't like my singing. So she's not always the perfect companion.
