Is there anyone here who can do tech support for Mozilla Firefox. I was on this morning and everything was fine - then i went on this afternoon and my profile seems to have disappeared. Everything I have saved over years is gone - all my bookmarks, sites, all of it!

Can anyone help?

I'm not a Firefox user anymore, but maybe this will help?:

Firefox automatically creates a backup of your bookmarks, which can be useful if you lose or disappear. To recover follow these instructions.

  1. Use One of these methods to open the Bookmarks Library:
  2. * 'Firefox 29 and later:' Click the Bookmarks button
    2014-01-10-13-09-08-09123d.png
    and select Show All Bookmarks.
  3. * 'Previous versions of Firefox:' Click Firefox button then Bookmarks. (If you can not see the Firefox button, click the Bookmarks button
    2011-03-04-06-12-39-555dfd.png
ormarkers element top menu, select Show All Bookmarks.)
  4. At the top of the library window Scores, click Import and Backup' and select Reset.
  5. Click the date you want to restore the backup of your bookmarks.
  6. In the new window that appears, click OK.
  7. Markers selected date should have been restored.
For more information, check out the article Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer. For other solutions, check the Recover lost or missing Bookmarks.

Sucks to be you. That happened about 6 months ago with me and Chrome. I just wept. It didn't solve the problem but I felt better.

It looks like I have lost everything - I was thinking i should switch to Chrome. My profile comes up as newly created this afternoon so it is all gone!

Well.. if you DO switch to chrome be sure to make and save a profile (which I never bothered- figured why need it, I am the only one using it!) and make sure its on.

Were you thinking about switching to chrome before Firefox crashed? if so... ooooh burn!

Thanks - I tried but apparently all my back up is gone. It just goes to the firefox created today.

Nope - I don't like chrome actually - had it on another computer

I dont like it either but I continually had various problems with Firefox, Opera and Safari. Only Chrome and Tor operated smoothly all the time.

I have Tor on the other computer - but bookmarks are not a Tor kinda thing.

As I have no tablet, or phone, and my laptop is probably as old as the ones used on Angel - not a problem for me. I do have a phone but it is just a phone, like to call people back when they annoy me by calling me if i feel i absolutely have to.

Oh man, the thread title made me laugh! Only because I shout tech support about 5 times a day when I'm stressed out. Referencing Vanilla Sky obviously.

I am upset for your bookmarks. It's happened to me and it's the WORST.

I've been using Firefox for as long as I have been on the internet with several different laptops, and I've never had this sort of problem. I do have a friend who is much more computer savvy than I am clone my hard drive, then swap them around occasionally (I have had only IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads, and changing the hard drive is very easy) That way, even if something catastrophic does happen to my computer, I only lose what's current by a few weeks. I know that doesn't help you now, but it's something that you might look into in the future.

I'm like you about cell phones and tablets. My cell is a $10 burner phone that I put my old sim card in I can make and receive calls, and that's all that I use it for. I do have a tablet, but I only use it to watch movies and TV shows when we travel, nothing else.

With Chrome, if you log in, sometimes the favorites are saved - it happened to me, and I have no idea how, since I certainly didn't do it on purpose. But I always have a back up for my favorites, so if there's a problem, I only have to import them.

Go to Bookmarks/Manage Bookmarks/Export, and then a HTML file with all favorites will be created.
