'Buffy' and 'Friends' Win Teen Choice Awards

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Teens still love Britney and "Buffy," that much is certain. Unlike previous years, however, there was no clear winner in all categories in the 4th annual "Teen Choice Awards 2002," which airs Monday, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. on FOX.

The awards show, which taped Sunday (Aug. 4), awarded two surf board trophies to last year's Extraordinary Achievement winner, Sarah Michelle Gellar for Choice Movie Actress in a Comedy for "Scooby-Doo" and Choice TV Actress in a Drama for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Gellar has now won eight surfboards overall -- who needs an Emmy?

Britney Spears won Choice Female Artist for the third consecutive time this year, and Choice Female Hottie for the second time. She now has six total Teen Choice Awards, but is well behind her ex, Justin Timberlake, with 12 awards, 10 from *NSync wins, and two for being a Hottie himself.

"Friends" is still the favorite among teen voters, winning Choice TV Comedy for the fourth consecutive time. It is the only four-time winner in the history of the admittedly young awards show. Choice TV Actor winner Matt Le Blanc and Matthew Perry were on hand to accept the award for the show.

Reese Witherspoon was crowned the new Extraordinary Achievement Winner for 2002. Her friend and "Legally Blonde" costar, Selma Blair, announced the award.

Okay, I'm a little disappointed with some stuff, but at least Sarah and Alyson won awards.:: tu :: I can't believe 7th Heaven keeps winning;::thumb:: that show has gotten so horrible. I'm glad Reese Witherspoon won the Extraordinary Achievement Award. She is amazing; she really deserves it.

Thank goodness. Ashanti is basically the only new artist that I truly adore this year. "Foolish" blew me away when I first heard it. She's from Long Island too, so that makes her even cooler. 🙄

I'm happy Sarah and Alyson won, but I've gotta complain. BTVS should have won more awards... Especially instead of '7th heaven'. I hate that show! And Brittney won? In the words of Xander "What? How? What?"
 
Buffy got some good awards 🙂 Its also good to see Tom Welling from Smallville getting an award. Disapointed that The Calling did'nt win anything though 🙁
 
I think Britney deserves the awards. The girl works hard! I do think that BTVS should have won more awards. Everybody on the show works their butts off.
 
OMG! I'm so happy that SMG won awards for Buffy and Scooby Doo! She totally deserves them! It's cool that Aly won for Choice TV side kick but I wish that James Marsters won instead. 🙁 What's up with Buffy not winning for best Drama?! I hate 7th Heaven. Buffy so deserved it more than that lame a** show.

Very cool that the Osbournes won for best reality show and happy that Kelly won for TV Breakout Star. That show is so hilarious!

Yay! Mandy Moore won for breakout performance! She rocks! She's a really good actress/singer. I love that A Walk to Remember movie. That movie made me cry. 🙁 Also happy that Friends won for best comedy. I love that show! I'm so bummed that season 9 is gonna be the last. Well basically all the people and shows I like won, which is very cool! The only thing I didn't like was that Britney won 2 awards. She doesn't deserve them at all. ::thumb::
 
when do you think the awards will be on in the uk - or does it say it in the article and i just missed it??
 
I'm happy Sarah and Aly won awards and so did their show. And everywhere I see 7th Heaven I think it should be replaced with BTVS. I remember we were forced to watch an episode of 7th Heaven. I really dont remember what it was about...i wasnt paying attention...i think it was about peer pressure, but i'm really not sure. it was for health class. i'm also so happy mandy won some awards! and i think avril should of won that one award instead of ashanti. i'm happy brit and nsync won some awards! and i'm happy reese won an award!
