Why does SMG sound God awful in this? She was amazing in OMWF
 
I wouldn't say she was "amazing" in OMWF... But Joss and the other writers wrote the songs to play to the actors' vocal strengths, so it made them sound as good as possible.

Never saw this before, thanks for sharing.
 
Haha hilarious. I think she sounds A LOT like Britney Spears in this song. It actually sounds like something Britney would sing. I think Sarah was meant to sound kinda lame in this given what the lyrics are - totally a gimmick.

It's from "Southland Tales"... Apparently Sarah was meant to sound like Britney Spears:

I must pick up the Southland Tales soundtrack. It contains more than a few great tunes, much in line with director Richard Kelly’s debut film Donnie Darko. The soundtrack also includes character Krysta Now’s first single “Teen Horniness is Not a Crime”, a satirical take on the bubble gum pop songs of Britney Spears era. In the movie, Sarah Michelle Gellar plays porn star Krysta Now, who also hosts a “View”-like talk show, her own energy drink, and an upcoming pop music career.

I though she was one of the weaker singers in OMWF.

But I think that sound exactly like they wanted it to sound, comment on the state of pop music and all that.

I had literately completely forgotten about this film, this movie was gonna be a big break for her at the time wasn't it? with the Donnie Darko guy behind it, it had big expectations but flopped if I remember correctly.

I know I've seen it, but I can't remember ANYTHING about it, can't remember the storyline or even if I liked it!

Sarah is so talented that she can morph into Britney Spears. This song is going to be stuck in my head every time I watch OMWF now haha
 
I thought everything about the character was meant to be comedic. She may have been an adult film actress, a singer, and a resistance fighter, but she was basically Harmony.

I think another difference between her singing on BtVS and that for ST is that Buffy was debilitatingly suicidally depressed during Once More With Feeling. Her songs were deep and meaningful.

I love Sarah, but I hated this. The sound of her voice was ok (I get she was supposed to sound like Britney) but in some of the scenes she looked like Paris Hilton... and that gave me baaaaaaaaaaaad chills............
