Any fans of the Ninja Turtles comics here? I'm a big fan of the TMNT franchise in general (although I'm not too big on the original 1987 cartoon, but I do appreciate it for bringing the Turtles to the mainstream), but the comics are the main reason I enjoy the franchise so much. I wasn't around during the original Mirage run of the comics which began in 1984 (pre dating the 1987 cartoon), but have since read some of the comics through finding a colour reprint of the very first issue at a convention I went to in May and the 'Ultimate Collection' hardback books which collect the early comics complete with notes from creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. I enjoy these comics a lot, and really dig the dark and gritty tone that they have as well as the artwork.

The more recent series from IDW is also brilliant. I began reading this series last year through the graphic novel volumes, the first of which I got as a Christmas present, and then made it a point to get each volume as they're released. I like how this series combines elements from both the original comics and the 1987 cartoon, but keeping a tone closer to the original comics. The most recent graphic novel volume released (City Fall Part 1) is awesome, and features an issue where Kevin Eastman does the artwork, which is great. Overall, both comic series are brilliant, and I definitely recommend them to any TMNT fans/Comic Book fans who haven't read them

I really like the IDW stuff, even though I've lapsed in keeping up with it the last few years. I've read the original black and white stuff by Kevin Eastman from the early 80's, and while it's dated, it's fun. The art is what I liked the most. I can't remember who drew those old books, but the city-scapes they penned were amazing to look at.
