Teensy-Tiny Complaint: Concerning Wonderfalls

I realize this is the second complaint I've made in as many months. I don't want to get the reputation as the complainer guy, but in this case I can't help myself. There's something niggling at me like an itch at your back you can't quite reach.

It has to do with Wonderfalls being sent to the off-topic nether regions of Caritas.

I have to stand up for the marvelous Wonderfalls. It doesn't deserve to be banished to Caritas with the "Who would you invite to your birthday", and "Funny toilet-paper stories" posts.

I'm thinking, what if "Ripper" was ever made. You wouldn't send it to Caritas.

I almost want to suggest "anti-North-Americanism". Ripper would be made and viewed first in Britain.

I realize though that criticism wouldn't be accurate.

The point could be made Ripper would be a Buffyverse spinoff.

All right. What about Firefly? Firefly appears in latest news and announcements with no complaint. It's not a spinoff.

Example 3

I'm supposing you would say Firefly is a Joss Whedon/Mutant Enemy production and therefore has a strong Buffyverse connection.

All right what about Scooby Doo. It appears in Latest News and Announcements.

I imagine the arguement there would be SMG was in Scooby Doo, therefore it has a strong Buffyverse connection.

I think you're underestimating Wonderfall's executive producer Tim Minear's contribution to the Buffy/Angelverse.

Tim Minnear made contributions to Angel as a writer, director, and executive producer. I've heard it said that in Angel Season 4 he pretty much took over the reins as the direction of Angel.

He was at least as important to the Buffy/Angelverse as Eliza Dukshu. Tru Calling appears in Latest News and Announcements.

Also, if you'd ever seen Wonderfalls, I think you'd have to admit the Buffyverse influence is noticeable. I'm not sure you could say that about Tru Calling. I know you couldn't say it about Scooby Doo.

Hey...What happened to the "Other" section. I'd settle for making my Wonderfalls posts there, but please, not Caritas. Anything but Caritas.

Well, the forum description for it is Buffy and Angel related news. To me that would mean that unless it was about Buffy or Angel directly it would need to be posted elsewhere.

IMO if there are articles posted there that aren't Buffy or Angel related then they should be moved too.

I guess it's a case of where do you draw the line. Does an article just have to feature a star or former star, or a crew member or has it got to be news that is only about the Buffy or Angel shows.

I actually think that Scooby Doo, Tru Calling and Firefly news should be posted elsewhere and not in the News & Announcements forum as they are not about Buffy or Angel. That's just my view. 😉 Thing is everyone has different views on what should be posted in there.

It is something we may need to look at and maybe consider creating a sub-forum or such for 'Other Entertainment News' that could be for posting news about other shows/films that may feature persons that have some connection with either Buffy or Angel. Either that or the forum description needs changing to be more precise as to what should be posted in there.

I will mention it to the others.🙂

Frankly I think it is a judgement call about Tru Calling / Firefly stuff. I would put it in Caritas. I know I've moved some TC stuff either to Caritas or the ELiza forum in the past. But since people don't listen when we move stuff and continue to post in the News forum...

Anyway, this didn't require a long argument lol. Truth is, I didn't realize/forgot that Tim Minear was involved with Wonderfalls, as I don't watch it. So it's as simple as that.

🙂

We are discussing this, but after thinking about it a few more minutes - you know, I would say yes it is news to post an article about TM. Or one that says "Tim Minear on new show". But an article about Wonderfalls itself? Not too relevent.

I was going to just post my question and read the replies, but now I find I need a clearer definition of what is or isn't postable where. Watch I'll show you what I mean.

Remember how I was saying Wonderfalls is kind of Buffyesque? Suppose I posted the following in "Inside Out" as an example of that:

Whether or not it's ever articulated in the show, Fuller knows why Jaye was tapped. "Why this girl? She's being taught a big lesson about letting life slip by and not taking advantage of the moments that are given to her every day, the moments you and I are given every day, that we can act or not act on.

"We are constantly confronting these situations and opportunities, and she's letting all those slip by. So this is the universe grabbing her by the collar and saying, 'Wake the f**k up."

or here's another one...

You were saying Firefly stuff could be admissable in latest news and announcements. Could I post the following there...

As a bonus to "Firefly" fans, Jewel Staite, who played mechanic Kaylee, will visit "Wonderfalls."

"Jewel appears about or around episode nine," Minear says, "and plays through episode 13 or so."

Personally I would say no. I mean, it's not really news about a Buffy-related person. It's more news about Firefly's cast or Wonderfalls.
