Television Reruns

Have you ever discovered anything on Television reruns. I discovered this science fiction series called First Wave that way. I kind of like it.

I rarely watch sitcoms in their first run. They're so much better when they air them everyday on reruns. It's easier to get into the characters. God help me, I recently got into Married with Children and The Nanny. They're horrible, but I can't stop watching them.

There's even really old reruns I'll watch. I get a kick out of Magnum and Rockford Files sometimes.

Then there's reruns I figure need another rerun run, but they don't get it where I am. No X Files. No Buffy or Angel here.

Oh, and some stuff I just don't get why they don't rerun more. Like those Stepen King miniseries things. They should do a whole season of those. I wanna see this Twin Peaks thing everybody talks about all the time too.

Some stuff they should never rerun. It should be taken out and burned. Beverly Hills 90210 just popped into my head.

I never watched Alias first time round (not sure why) - I knew of it but didn't watch it so not sure if that counts, but thanks to the writers strike I ran out of things to watch and started watching it.

Another was Shameless, I could never see why people watched it but then I got hooked (ok so it was James McAvoy!)

Lost...never watched it until E4 insisted on repeating it 24/7 so I had no choice but to watch it...it's ok but it's no Buffy!

Same goes for Grey's Anatomy although I have a real soft spot for this show. The dialogue is great.

I was the same with Greys. My friends were all going on about how great it was and I didn't understand why they thought it rocked. I caved and bought Season 1 on dvd for 19.99 and watched it in a weekend and that was me hooked.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I end up in tears at most of the episodes...espcially where Denny was concerned but i'm a big sap!

I caught first wave and Farscape in reruns aswell as I guess Stargate SG-1 the moment it came to scifi I was hooked and have called it my favorite show of all time ever since. If it had started on scifi I would have saw it sooner but it started on scifi I believe after 5 seasons on showtime or something.

That is literally exactly how I got into it too!

OMG don't get me going on Denny! I am not a sop AT ALL but i even teared up for his and Izzie's whole big saga! I am so annoyed we were robbed of Dizzie! I mean how cute were they!

I know there is a certain someone *cough* BS *cough* that does not like Denny, but he has the most adorable smile. I am quite empathetic so when I watch things I imagine myself in that position and I relate to them. That last episode with that Snow Patrol song had me choking. The only thing that was worse when my dad called me during Hero (Angel) when Doyle jumped onto the light and he thought he was someone I was at uni with because I was breaking my heart and could hardly speak.

I think re-runs are different for us in the UK and Ireland, considering Supernatural S3 is just airing, so a lot of our re-runs are of shows that have not even aired elsewhere.

So considering I have seen Supernatural S3 I consider that a re-run.

I don't do chick movies - i''m not that feminine, but it has Gerard Butler and JDM so it has to be good! Plus he is in that Accidental Husband (as a fireman no less!!!)

You must watch the Supernatural re-runs considering JDM is Sam and Dean's dad.

Back in the day I watched Buffy and Angel on Sky but thanks to the delays we were only a few days behind (a bit like it is with Lost now).

I think that is why most people download, I would happily pay if I could watch it the same time as my US friends but its all about money so I doubt they will do it, although itunes do it with Lost.

I think we have totally hijacked and de-railed this thread from its original topic so back to shows that you watch on the re-runs i'm currently watching Criminal Minds.

In theory its a show I would love but I got bored with it but there is not much on in the UK so I watch it on Five US.

Somtimes I watch First Watch on FX...I caught re-runs years ago when it was on RTà‰ but they stopped and then I think channel 4 got the rights but decided to air
it at like 4 in the morning!gobshites! It was great show though based around the cops/firefighters and EMT's of New York

First Watch - is that the fireman show Christian Kane was in?

Another UK one but I watched the re-run's of Skins recently and quite liked it.

You are no alone! During my senior year of college, I had a 2 hour break between work and classes. It just so happened that Dawson's Creek reruns were on during that break. I was hooked. I loved the way they spoke. They were teens dealing with rather typical teen soap opera problems, but they spoke so intelligently! I loved it. Eventually, I got my mom and sister hooked (not sure how, though, as I was not living with them at the time).

Gilmore Girls is another. Same sort of thing, different time. When I first got married, I had a weird work schedule. The result was that I got home from work right around the time that this came on. I loved the witty dialogue and the wacky townies. Again, I got my mom and my sister hooked. We lived in the same town, so it wasn't as weird as the Dawson's Creek thing.

Seventh Heaven was a really terrible show, but it came on right after Gilmore Girls and sucked me in. I thought the corniness was too funny.

The first show that ever sucked me in during reruns was Lonesome Dove. I caught it all out of order on TNT one day, and then I was hooked. This was in high school. I was already a fan of the Larry McMurtry books and the mini-series, so the title caught my eye. Even though they aired the episodes all out of order and it wasn't nearly as good as anything Larry McMurtry wrote, I loved the show. Mostly, I loved that it freely went AU so that my favorite character, Newt, didn't die. Some of the plots were really bad, but I loved the characterization. The characters were really deep. Also, some of the lines cracked me up. The show, as a whole, had a really quirky sense of humor. For example, one of the guys was named UnBob. When questioned as to the origin of that rather peculiar name, he answered that he had an older brother named Bob. lol.

Well Buffy and Angel are on my list of shows I only watched in reruns or because of them. I started watching them years while getting my daughter ready for school. I just thought one day I would check out Buffy and DVRed it and finished watching it after I got back from taking her to the bus stop and I was hooked, lol. I set the DVR to record every day it was on and then Angel, too. I only go to watch about 2 weeks worth of shows before other stuff happened and I went to Chicago where they come on at like 5 and 6am. Now I only watch on DVD.

I guess X-Files was another one I started watching in reruns first. My friends in high school were really into it but I never watched it. Then I was visiting them and they had to watch this one episode and it was pretty funny. So in college I started watching reruns of it, bought the movie and eventually started catching new episodes. I stopped watching before the show ended, though, because they kept changing the characters.

I can't really think of any others right now. There are some that I think I might start watching in reruns like Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs (because I keep hearing how good they are--I've seen a few episodes of Scrubs and it's pretty funny).

I got into Smallville watching re-runs although I have kinda lost track of it again this season and last.....I think most other shows I watch I caught first time round.

I think that's because I will give most shows a chance if they sound interesting or if someone else recommends it, if they haven't got me hooked by about episode 5 or 6 then I usually just give up watching them.

Grey's is one that I want to watch and just haven't found the time to yet as I want to watch it from the beginning.

I have a hard time getting hooked on shows the first time around.

They're only on once a week. They're interrupted by sporting events. Plus, if you didn't become interested until three or so seasons in, then it's hard to get caught up in time for a show to really hold your interest.

I usually get addicted in reruns that occur right before or right after General Hospital or after a show has been released onto DVD (and onto my Netflix queue). I can't get addicted to one hour a week for part of the year when there isn't something better going on. I need more continuity than that.

The best way to get addicted to a show is the way I got wired on Buffy. I got into it in Season 6 when the show was still running. At the same time they had the episodes rerunning daily from Season 1. So I had the new eps to look forward to weekly, and the old ones to watch every day. That was great. It was an experience never duplicated.

No way! The best way to get into a show is how I got into Babylon 5. Never hearing about it for 10 plus years then being told its the greatest show ever made if you get past season one, watching it on dvd one after another, and never stopping 🙂 My funnest experience. But I agree it is fun to get into a show the way you did nerd4hire I just could never wait that long I'd have to run out and find the next episode.
