Since we don't know when the IRC chat will be operational again, we have brought back the old shoutbox chat temporarily. You can find it at the bottom of the main page or via the "Temp Chat" link under member community.
We have had problems with this and server load in the past, so if it becomes a problem we'll use a different solution, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Enjoy, but remember, the same rules about respecting other members apply in the shoutbox.

Thought I should mention the "Active Users" isn't really an accurate portrayal of who is chatting. Doesn't really show lurkers. So you shouldn't let "active users" determine whether you chat.
