Caution Swearing😉

I'm SO excited about this movie. I cannot begin to describe how much I've wanted to see it since I first heard it was coming and the Trailer makes it look excellent. The music Video is possibly my fave Tenacious D song yet.

Anyone else wanting to see this?

I like their crappy music. lol. It's like Spinal Tap...mixed with the Pixies or something. Jack's fun. I really liked School of Rock. Some people find him sooo annoying...

I'm a big Tenacious D fan so I'm really looking forward to the movie. I've seen the new video quite a few times already on Kerrang TV. Very funny stuff!

BEG, have you listened to the first cd? You cannot tell me that you don't think City Hall is one of the best songs ever written! 😉

There'll be no more rich people or poor people!!!

LOL. I love the first 'D' album. City Hall, filled with its comical lyrics actually does have a certain element of 'fu*k yeah' to it.

Also, gotta love the McDonalds Drive Thru'.

Ohhh and all I can think about is Kielbasa sausage now!!

I did, I told you to do the 'curly' every once in a while.....oh yeah, ya did.

I could quote 'The D' all day........such as ponder if there really are Robots advanced enough to pass as us in todays world.

Saw this movie today.
THE greatest opening to a movie EVER.
I have to say, If you aren't a D fan you will find it funny BUT not as funny as a D fan.
I loved it. The music was perfect, the characters were great, the cameos hilarious(Meatloaf - Ben Stiller - Dave Grohl(obviously) - Tim Robbins).
I will be watching this again.

If you like comedy, you will love this.
If you like Rock, you will love this.
If you are alive, YOU WILL LOVE THIS!

Ok, maybe not that much😉

Don't hate me. I'm just passing this along. A local film critic called it juvenalia, and a vanity flic.

Hmmm and the problem with that critique is?
The concept IS juvenile. Fact is, anyone who uses that as a reason it isn't good is, quite frankly, retarded. Its Tenacious D with Jack Black and Kyle Gass. The point of the movie is to play a Masterpiece Gig at an open Mic night in order to pay the rent. Threy decide to steal the Pick of Destiny from the Rock and Roll Museum, incidently the Pick is made from the Tooth of The Devil.
Its hardly Amistad!

What I would suggest of your local critic is that he is hurt that he is not a movie star or huge director and that working on the local rag is as far as his potential will take him.

I find it amusing reading and watching these people pass judgement on films because you can feel bitterness coming from their words.

You take this movie for what it is.
Two very funny guys, doing a film that parodies themselves and having alot of fun.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend our local critics by any means. They're bashers. They bash anything that isn't as Cartman says, "gay cowboys eating pudding". One of them even bashed Serenity.

Here's some more word blurbs from other cities' critics.

"mockingly infectious"

"sweet spoof of hair-metal mediocrity"

"a slight and silly farce"

"stoner cinema"

"The problem with vanity productions is that for the most part they aren't very good. Sometimes they have their moments, as does this one, ..."

Google's review page has it at 2.5 stars out of five so far.

I don't think this one will be what they call a critical success. Will it be a box office success though, I wonder? It won't surprise me if it is. Perhaps it will become one of those comedy cult successes though, like the Spinal Tap mockumentary.

You say that like Serenty was some sprawling masterpiece. Citizen kane it wasn't. More like senior citizen.Tired, weary, same old same old.

Edit:

I'm not sure what it is you're showing me. Is it that it got a lot more positive ratings than negative?

Serenity was just an episode of the tv show, extended an hour and on a bigger screen. I tire of the myopic love people have for Whedon. I expected a lot more from the legend! the genius! Oh my god he's sooo goood!, Mr Joss Whedon.

Enough about the cult classic Serenity, I want to discuss the subject of the thread some more.

When I first saw Tenacious D popping up on the internet a few years ago, I thought this is wild, what is this? I was kind of a cautious fan. I tried watching that cable TV show they did. I wouldn't recommend that one. It's boring.

I still get a kick out of the D though. I'm really liking the YouTube stuff that's coming out of the movie. I want to see the movie, but I think I'll wait for the video myself. Interesting...I feel the same way about Borat. If the two come out as rentals at the same time, I don't know which one I'll rent first.

Well, it better be or I'll be wanting my money back when I go see it! 🙂

Seriously, what exactly was this critic expecting? Did he also go see the Jackass movie expecting to see sensible conversation and thoughtful opinions on the world's big issues?

It's the D! Of course it's juvenile! 😛

Well I expected great things, and I am a big fan of the band but I have to say I really wasn't impressed with the film. Sure, the start was great and there were some bits that were hilarious but on the whole the storyline was rubbish and Jack and Kyle were a bit hit and miss with the comedy.
