Actor Terence Stamp, who starred as Superman villain General Zod, dies aged 87

The Oscar-nominated actor shot to fame in the 1960s, going on to star in numerous films across a six decade career.

He really made a mark as General Zod. I still remember him clearly, all these decades later. He had a wide-ranging career, and I saw him in many roles, but Zod is what I remember.

I only saw him in a handful of things - most notably (and probably the same for many others) Superman and, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

I was not attached to his role as Zoe like others, but I do remember him as the rather minor Chancellor Valorum in Phantom Menace. A shame to lose another good character actor. There seems to be a lot of them passing away recently

I suspect a lot of those who would be considered character actors are older actors, perhaps doing leading roles in their younger years, but now being known more for character roles.
