She said that the current crisis in Texas is basically God's "payback" for Ted Cruz and whatever the other elected senator is called.

Saw her tweets about Abbott and Cornyn but she seems to be saving all her vitriol for Cruz (and TBH she's not on her own there) but nothing that was particularly insulting to Texas and Texans. Perhaps she deleted it?

Perhaps, I think she was getting a lot of backlash because of her comments, basically implying that Texans had brought it on themselves because of who they voted for. Midler has major TDS. Had this been a different colour state or even pre-2016, her attitude would've probably been completely different.

It probably was a silly thing to say but I think she meant it more as a swipe at Cruz than Texas.

Being such a large state, Texas has a wide variety of climate. I generally split it between East (which I consider part of the South) and West (which I consider part of the west) Texas. East Texas is hot and humid. West Texas is arid with some outright desert. Ice is rare, and my only memory of snow in East Texas (about 200 miles north of Houston) was patches of white on a wooded hill that quickly melted (and that was only the one time). It's subtropical. And for the last several years the lakes have been drying up as temperatures increase and summers seem to grow longer.
I remember how much in awe I was when I first saw Mt. Shasta after leaving Texas. Snow was exotic to me then.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Panhandle (the far north of Texas) got snow, but I've never been there.
As for God...hopefully they're not trying to pray the problems away as one governor kept trying to do. It failed spectacularly each time (as in it always got even worse), one after another, that I'm surprised he was allowed to call more prayer meets. My comment at the time was "the Force is not with him." ('Course many have the basic sense to know to "lock your car and THEN pray it's not stolen." Which seemed to be more than that governor, assuming he wasn't just playing his base thinking them fools.)
But in any case, if I believed in the Christian God, I wouldn't dare imply disasters were because of how one voted, if one supported LGBT, or all the other stuff since it's making God into one's own image (and implies what they would do with godlike powers, making me glad such people aren't even X-Men like mutants, let alone God, I'd rather not live the good life under anyone, especially zealots of any kind).
It's also a statement against justice since those who did not "sin" are also suffering, and that's not from natural consequences or even collateral damage (if you assume an omniscient, omnipotent being), but a tyrant lashing out blindly since the actual sinners in many cases are the least likely to feel the brunt of that wrath, in addition to being like punishing the victims along with the criminals. I'd never worship such a demon as God. I thought only the fundamentalists did that, but apparently I'm wrong.
