Anyone see this new Netflix film yet? I had such low expectations going in, but it surprisingly exceeded them! For a franchise that’s more gore than plot, this entry had the most thoughtful plot out of any of them!

Definitely going to see this. The trailer where he gets "cancelled" was enough to get me on board 🤣

Is it better at least than "Do your thing, cous,"?

One of the better scenes in the film.
It was probably the best I’ve seen since Jessica Biel’s version in the early 00s!! I even had a weird slasher dream last night because of it! I was so ecstatic waking up this morning. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a dream chase sequence!

Just finished it…..hmm.

@Cohen I’m glad you liked it! Definitely felt wonky to me, but maybe I’m too picky 😅 the kills at least were pretty radical and surprisingly gory for Netflix, though I imagine they just bought the distribution rights after it was done and ready to go.

I thought it was pretty lame. The opening 10-15 mins was solid, but it was mostly standard stuff after that. I thought Sally's cameo was wasted too. Some of the cast were decent, but there were some wooden acting from others. Not scary for me and it has too much of a budget for a TCM.

I felt like there was definitely more thought and heart to the movie than previous incarnations. The revenge of Leatherface was a much better motivation than just “he kills because he’s an inbred hillbilly”. And the social commentary was so spot on. I mean, the “you’re about to be canceled” line as the whole bud load of millennials was doing an insta-live. How amazingly on point!!!

I think they could have done more with the social media stuff though. Apart from that one scene it was barely mentioned. Also I'm pretty sure if someone looking like Leatherface got on a bus with a chainsaw you would shit your pants and run for cover 😀

Lol, it was clearly not meant to show the reality of what would happen, but the commentary of being an "influencer" and the culture of standing by during injustices (or in this case, murder and mayhem). The first reaction was to video, not to run for cover, which was the exact point. It was so campy, and I LOVED it.
