Just re-watched Angel from season 1-3(gonna pick up season 4 when it comes out on the 7th), and it got me thinking. Cordy got visions when something bad was going to happen, and they were the PTB's way of saying "stop this". The visions were sometimes obscure, and were hard to interpret(like when Angel killed that demon protecting that pregnant woman). Watching season 3 over again(and knowing how the rest of the series pans out, I'm wondering what the final vision in season 3 was supposed to mean. The one where Cordy was sitting at the table in her home, and sees the image of herself on the freeway talking to skip about how she loved Angel. At first glance you think it's the PTB's way of telling Cordy "you love Angel", but wait a minute. I thought the PTB only spoke when someone was in danger, or in peril. Thinking about it harder, I wonder if the PTB weren't saying "you love Angel" because they thought that she should just know. Maybe they were saying "skip is bad, don't go with skip to be a supposed higher being...be with Angel...you love Angel...stay with him cause you love him.". I don't know...are these insane ramblings?

Hmm interesting. I'd have to think about it some more, but I just wanted to day I think this is a REALLY good catch:

You might be on to something there!

Maybe not the whole "go lovey dovey with Angel" because im sure TPB want their champions to do more then make googly eyes at each other but the "avoid Skip" theory is an interesting one.

I just thought it would make sense. The PTB really didn't give visions about puppies, and love, and stuff like that. They gave visions out about impending danger. Maybe they were trying to tell Cordy that if she went down this path, badness will happen. Maybe they picked that moment of the conversations with Skip because they thought that her love for angel would be the only thing that could keep her from leaving to become the mother of an evil demon god.

I don't think they needed her on the freeway per say. They probably coulda done the deed anywhere. Besides, why show her the one thing that would make her want to stay that dimension, and not leave(Angel). Right after Groo left, would have been the best time for Skip to show up I would think. She's alone because her boy-toy left her, why not go onto a different plane of existence to fight evil...there's nothing keeping her there. All that vision would serve to do is remind her of what's there for her...what she would lose if she left.

I like that theory a lot. Because what better way of warning her of what was going to happen then have her see the vision of her saying she loves Angel. That more then anything would make her stay I think. Because hello she'd be leaving him behind to be something she didn't want to be in the first place, she wanted to stay you could tell. Considering threw the next couple of eppies she was like "Get me out of here!' When it showed her surrounded by blue energy. I like that theory ALOT! lol :bounce:

Awesome catch Mr. Gordo...I think you may be correct, because if you think about it, when did she ever get a vision about something other than a bad/dangerous event.

Oh man finally!!!!!! I remember when that episode aired I was like. "So is skip bad?" It always made sense to me that he would be. I mean come on...if Harmony couldn't be trusted then why sholuld skip of been? Hey does anyone remember the name of that eipsode?

Nice one Mr Gordo, you picked up on something which no one ever has done, you should be pleased with yourself. I t really does make sense!

If you mean when we find out Skip is bad that would be Inside Out.

well if the PTB wanted to warn her of impending danger why didnt they just give her a vision about it...why go pointing out the obvious? she already knew she loved angel, she was meeting him to say exactly that...its debatable...surely they would just throw her a look at what was going to happen to her if she went??? ok, im rambling :|

I just got to thinking, what would be the purpose of that vision. Skip is evil. Did the PTB know this? They must have because if they could see Cordy's future enough to see that conversation with Skip, then they could see far enough to see what was going to happen a couple minutes from that point...that Skip would do the Mojo that he did on her. The thing about Cordy and what happened to her is very un-clear. Did she turn evil immediately after being pulled up into the heavens? Did she really become a higher being, or was it all just a part of Skips plan? They never explained it very well on Angel, and it's too bad that they probably never will. Charisma has said that she doesn't want to do anything more with the character of Cordelia. Pity

I think you are correct. Skip clearly wasn't working for the Powers. The Powers would not send Cordy a happy unnecessary vision. Instead, they sent her a warning about Skip and indirectly about Jasmine. It's sad the Cordy didn't notice it!

Very interesting, I am going to have to rewatch now. I have never noticed that before...The PTB should have sent Cordy a vision showing Angel in the box 🙁

I was always curious myself about that vision. This show, as well as BTVS, has very vital symbolism placed throughout it. Cordy's visions were about helping the helpless on a higher level. The visions represented a deepness in life and were not just thrown around into Cordy's head for fun(besides W&H interveniance). So this vision could have been a warning not to follow the path that Skip guided her towards(which would ultimately lead to her death).

I'm not sure though.

Aren't we kind of led to believe the whole thing was part of Jasmine's plan to create a set of circumstances where she (Jasmine) could be born.

Couldn't Jasmine have planted the vision? Visions have been planted in Cordy's head before. There was the guy who worked for Lilah, who hid his open brain under a fez.

Didn't Jasmine need Cordy to go with Skip? I always got the impression Cordy's time in the other dimension was part of her preparation for the supernatural child birth.

Apparently Skip needed Cordelia to agree to cross over to that dimension. Who knows why?

Jasmine's best chance of getting Cordy to consent would be by leading her to believe everything was part of a master plan of the PTB. She already believed Skip was with the powers. So put a vision in Cordy's head of Skip, and she's going to think the powers want her there.

I think maybe this is one of those open-ended things like Normal Again from Buffy season 6, where you can believe one way, or the other.

Also: I'm wracking my brain, but I can't remember where that vision is. You say it's at the end of Season 3. That would be the episode called Tomorrow, right? I think I remember a vision about vampires attacking Justine in a bar. Then later I think there's kind of a vision where Cordy sees a phantom of herself telling her she loves angel, but I can't remember where the vision of Skip on the highway is. Can you help me?

I agree that this vision is open to all different interpertation. The vision where Cordy sees herself is what we are discussing. We don't know if it was actually a warning by the PTB to not listen to Skip and just get to her love Angel(which would lead her to safety).
