That final vision in season 3

I was looking for it in the transcript. There must be something like a flash of the Skip on the highway thing, that isn't written in the transcript.

It is this scene right?

Cordy looks at a photograph of herself with Angel and Wes on either side.
Cordy: "I don't feel... And even if I did, it's impossible."
Cordy's voice: "It's ridiculous."
Cordy: "That's right. It's... (Looks up) Woah!"
In the window across from her is an apparition of herself, framed in white light.
Phantom Cordy: "Maybe on some level I've always known it's true."
Cordy: "I have? It is?"
Phantom Cordy: "I'm in love!"
Cordy: "I am? I am! - With Angel, right?"
Phantom Cordy: "With Angel!"
Cordy: "Just checking."
Phantom Cordy: "I'm scared. But I know it's right. I know somehow it's all gonna be alright."
Cordy: "It is? Really? (The apparition vanishes) Thanks for the tip."

Then later I think there's kind of a vision where Cordy sees a phantom of herself telling her she loves angel, but I can't remember where the vision of Skip on the highway is. Can you help me?

The vision she seems of herself is in fact a vision of the conversation with Skip later. She does not see a vision when on the highway. Tried to pick out the parts she sees in her vision to make it clearer.

Cordy: "And only that one time as a night light. - Bad dreams. - Skip, I don't understand."
Skip: "I think you do."
Cordy: "It's ridiculous. - I'm just a somewhat normal girl - who - has visions, glows, and occasionally blows things up with her crazy new power. (Skip looks at her) I'm a higher being."
Skip: "Yes."

"I'm in love/With Angel!"

Cordy: "No, of course not. Why would the Powers give me time to have the most important conversation of my life? I'm on my way to... (Skip just looks at her) I'm in love! With Angel."
Skip: "What you're being called to do - transcends love."

"I'm scared. But I know it's right. I know somehow it's all gonna be alright."

Skip: "You're doing the right thing."
Cordy: "I'm scared. - But I know it's right. I know somehow it's all gonna be alright. (Sighs) What do I do?"
Skip: "Just say yes."
Cordy: "I already have."


Can't seem to find "Maybe on some level I've always known it's true." maybe it was cut out of a blunder.

Thanks for posting that. This line could indicate that this vision could have been a warning. She says this while being lifted up with Skip by her side. If she would have not swayed from her path to Angel, her love, she might have been safe.

Very good thinking, i reckon that your probably right and if your not then i choose to believe that you are because i could never accept that thePTB just sat back and watched what happened to cordy without at least interfering a little

Aren't we kind of led to believe the whole thing was part of Jasmine's plan to create a set of circumstances where she (Jasmine) could be born.

Couldn't Jasmine have planted the vision? Visions have been planted in Cordy's head before. There was the guy who worked for Lilah, who hid his open brain under a fez.

Didn't Jasmine need Cordy to go with Skip? I always got the impression Cordy's time in the other dimension was part of her preparation for the supernatural child birth.

Apparently Skip needed Cordelia to agree to cross over to that dimension. Who knows why?

Jasmine's best chance of getting Cordy to consent would be by leading her to believe everything was part of a master plan of the PTB. She already believed Skip was with the powers. So put a vision in Cordy's head of Skip, and she's going to think the powers want her there.

I think maybe this is one of those open-ended things like Normal Again from Buffy season 6, where you can believe one way, or the other.

Also: I'm wracking my brain, but I can't remember where that vision is. You say it's at the end of Season 3. That would be the episode called Tomorrow, right? I think I remember a vision about vampires attacking Justine in a bar. Then later I think there's kind of a vision where Cordy sees a phantom of herself telling her she loves angel, but I can't remember where the vision of Skip on the highway is. Can you help me?

This is what I had always figured. I mean, Jasmine had enough power to do everything else concerning Cordelia, no?

Perhaps they didn't see it coming? I mean, if they did, wouldn't they have tried harder or done something more drastic?

I always gathered that Cordy was refering to her love for Angel in that scene with both cordys talking to each other.

What i mean is she is suddenly realising her love for Angel, then starts to have a conversation with phantom Cordy and the phantom was revealing her feelings on the matter...?

Reassuring ones self springs to mind..? ha ha!

But having said that i totally agree with Xander on this.
It was a prelude to the highway scene, i reckon the phantom Cordy was telling Cordy some cryptic message(vision) that became clearer when on the highway...to her actual path she took.

I also agree that because she strayed from her path with Angel things went downhill for her, she would of been safer not straying from it.

I am with the original poster here. I always figured that Cordy got a vision from the PTB here, as a warning to follow Skip. We can clearly see that she witnesses her conversation with Skip in that vision. Since she was so confused about her dawning realization about her feelings for Angel she did misinterpret that vision, didn't pay enough attention to what that vision really meant. It wasn't the first vision she got about herself being in danger, she got one in Epiphany too, when she was about to be attacked by the Skilosh demon.

The vision is clearly from the PTB. The vision and everything about it is played the way it is so it isn't apparent to the viewer that Cordelia is in danger. Its only on reflection, after witnessing the events of season 4 that the vision becomes clear. Or your understanding of it...Well, for the most part. Some people have difficulty understanding a tv show....

Okay, we know for a fact that Skip's involvement in Cordy's life was arranged by Jasmine. Everything from Cordy being made part demon to being taken to a higher realm was necessary for Jasmine's plan to go ahead, which is why she had Skip arrange these things.

Cordy never became a higher being, that much is clear. She was held in a higher plane whilst Jasmine possessed her but this was not something that the rest of the PtB were behind. They needed Cordy on earth, helping Angel by passing on their visions. They had no need to make her a higher being. In fact it only made their own plans (whatever they may be) more difficult.

So the question of that final vision in the episode Tomorrow and why she recieved it becomes a question of who wanted her to meet Angel that night. Who had more to gain by having her and Angel connected? To me that would be the PtB. Jasmine could have had Skip take Cordy from her own apartment that night, rather than out on that highway. She had no reason to have Cordy go meet Angel at all. In fact having Cordy realise that she loved Angel only made the decision to ascend to the higher plane more difficult for her and she could easily have chosen to not go. Then where would Jasmine be?

It seems to me that the PtB were aware of Jasmine's plan and that they were making one last attempt to give Cordy a reason to stay on Earth, ruining Jasmine's plan once and for all. Pushing Cordy to realise she loved Angel was the only way that they had left to have Cordy choose to stay, because the PtB never chose to force the hand of mortals. They believed in free will far too much to do that. Whatever happened had to be the sole choice of the individual, in this case Cordy, even if they chose the wrong thing. They hoped that, by understanding her love for Angel, Cordy would reject Skip's offer. A shame that Skip was a little too convincing!

I can see Cordys pov on this. She had no idea skip was evil. She knew he had helped her before, what with the visions not killing her now, and she couldnt see that the vision was warning against going with Jasmine.
Which, not the point of this thread. I agree with the first post on this. I realised this after the episode where we learned Skip was evil, and Cordy had Jasmine.

What Angel said in season four ep Inside out "they didn't want to get their hands dirty" was a missconception of the ptb's involvement then...?

cos the watcher has put it in nut shell! Questrion is why if Cordy was in love with Angel didn't she refuse skips offer? didn't she love him enough to stay?

She considered it a last test. Just like Doyle: "You'll never know when you be tested." She thought she had to sacrifice her love for the greater good. Skip said to her that what she had to do transcends love and she trusted him, after all he was the one who guided her through her Birthday experience.

She did love Angel enough to stay, she did hesitate, but her trust in the PTB and her dedication to the mission made her accept the ascension.

I don't get what's being asked in this thread. Wasn't Jasmine one of the PtB? I thought the Powers wanted Cordy to give birth to Jasmine.

No, no the rest of the powers didn't want her to give birth to Jasmine, Jasmine just took it upon herself to fix the world, believing the Powers wern't taking enough intrest.

Well, we have no idea what the rest of the PtB wanted. Or if they were even interested in the petty concerns of mere mortals. I dunno, I just think Jasmine was the one playing them the entire time. Angel coming back from hell? Doyle, and then Cordy, receiving the visions? Connor? Cordelia's demonization? I think it was all Jasmine.

You all talk about Jasmine as if she were evil. She's not. I think she genuinely had good intentions, but being what she is, she just has an incredibly different perspective on the world. She's supposed to be god-like, right? She's just not going to see things the same way lower-beings would.

Well we know the PtB's want good, but Jasmine felt they were going about it to slowly, so she fond away to descend to the lower plane.

And yes while Jasmines overall goal was intended to be good, it's the way she went about it that made her evil, and she was evil, cuz she wanted to take away peoples freedoms, she was like a dictator.
