I cannot stand Andrew. So when he popped up on AtS I was just highly annoyed. I was like, 'This guy, again?!'

It's an entertaining episode. See my username!
("I'm not riding on the back!!")
The thing is Andrew was pretty much already a caricature of a character and then in his AtS they made him even more of a caricature. His presence never makes any sense but it’s entirely down to production loving Tom Lenk and the show screaming ‘yeah no other BTVS cast was interested soooo…..’

Mostly with him in this episode my complaint is like another poster mentioned there is absolutely no way Andrew is now suddenly a confidant to Buffy inner feelings

I've always liked this episode. I just don't take it seriously. It's a big goof, and I like Angel and Spike being jealous of the Immortal. I just have fun with it, it's stupid but fun.
Though I always loved the Wesley/Illyria/Fred's parents stuff; wonderfully emotive stuff.
I do love those scenes. The way Amy Acker can switch between Fred and Illyria is amazing, she's such a great actress.

The last time he saw Angel, he'd literally double crossed him and threatened to kill him. You'd think that might give him pause before inviting him in or maybe might anger Angel, seeing him.

In fact what the hell is Buffy doing putting him in charge of a bunch vulnerable young girls 🤯

You mean...vulnerable...superstrong vampire slayers? lol.
Btvs fan: I hope you take my comment as humor, and not mockery.

Sidenote on 'Damage': I thought that Angel saying that Giles is sending one of his 'best people' and then Andrew turning up was a bit laughable. Giles wouldn't trust Andrew to get his groceries, let alone deal with a dangerous and unstable vampire slayer!

I don’t buy that Andrew was ‘in charge’ of anything. His saying that is in character though - his prime characteristic is that he’s economical with the truth particularly when it comes to boosting his own importance. I’d say it’s more likely the slayers were in charge of HIM and they just wanted him out of the way

But why would Giles or Buffy send him to retrieve a psychologically damaged Slayer and why wouldn't he turn up at the start with all those Slayers instead of just following Spike (who got captured) anyway.

Whedon's comic retcon makes it even worse. In Rome he's apparently running a full team of Slayers. Not simply just hanging with Buffy

Absolutely agree that he's not a confidant to Buffy's feelings.

It really is a shame no other cast members couldn't/wouldn't make it for that appearance: Willow, Xander, or Faith would've been great.

I know there are some Andrew fans out there, and they find him funny. I just don't get it.

Oh and Btvs fan, yeah the slow-motion nightclub scene is entertaining as heck!

I’ve always just assumed the slayers were there the whole time. My headcanon is despite what Andrew thinks THEY are the ones in charge, not Andrew

Okay, really don't know what was going on. Some bits are fun, namely Angel and Spike squabbling, but then you have Illyria/Fred and Fred's parents. Talk about a change in tone within the same episode.

And Andrew. Really hate him.

It’s so dumb. We knew the show was ending, they teased Buffy being in it, the episode had no gravity, no weight, no resolution. It’s just a dumb episode. And Andrew is such a nothing character to include-especially to Angel. He has literally no relationship with him whatsoever.

Buffy was never going to be in this one. It was meant to be Michelle Trachtenberg. Buffy was meant to be in the 100th episode but SMG couldn't do it so they got CC back instead

In addition to other boss from hell traits, Joss had lied to so many by then that they (most) no longer believed him. I'm talking about the people who worked with him, not the fandom. And he'd recently lied to Charisma (again). I think a lot of "can't" is "won't."

The show had some dumb characters, saying about the immortal as if being immortal was something special, any vampire who is careful is immortal. And Buffy going out with the one known as the immortal (a vampire) quite normal for her really. I think by that stage we all knew her as not a real vampire slayer but more of a Vampire layer.
Thing is many folk thought of her as a female to be proud of. Now if Darla could have questioned her .. .. .. .. The Darla from before the start of the series when she was with Angel, Spike and Drusilla not the Darla at the start of the series.

The Immortal got such character shilling that I assumed he was something other than a vampire to start with. I assume it was done with the intention of being funny. Like Morn in DS9. Didn't work as well, though.

Funny thing is had Michelle been in it that would have been the only meeting of Dawn and Angel.

Would have been interesting to see Dawn in season 4 and have her interact with Connor...

In the few seconds just thinking of it, I want to see shipping fic between Connor and Dawn just for scenes of Dawn yelling at him to get out so he leaps out her window (glass and all) with her screaming in rage about that, and then Connor asking his dad about crazy girls, mentioning Dawn, while Buffy is there irritated with Connor (while paging Xander to fix another damn window), and sure to become even more irritated by Angel if he dares answer him then and there.

But I'm sure the actual fanfic is nowhere near as appealing.
