I'm gonna try to re-watch this episode. it's usually one of the ones I skip because I've never really liked it. I just didn't find it very entertaining I guess. I didn't care much for that old gang of his...

The North American (Region 1) DVD release ruined the opening of this episode:
Because the "Previously on Angel" recap segments were cut off of the Region 1 DVDs for each season including Buffy's seasons, some episodes end up with missing scenes.
In the case of this episode, the opening was ruined by the missing recap:
The ending of the recap shows a scene from "Epiphany", where Angel throws Darla around and says to her "Get dressed and get out, because the next time I see you, I'm gonna have to kill you".
The screen goes blank, and then you hear Angel's voice saying: "That night still haunts me".
Then it fades into Angel's face on close up, where continues to say "I'm ashamed of how I treated you. I used you got what I needed and cast you aside and it was wrong. It was very wrong".
Now, because the 'previously on' recap ended with that scene with Angel and Darla, you are left to assume that Angel is now apologizing to her, up until it cuts to Merl the snitch instead.
It's a great misdirection, and funny joke that was depending entirely on the recap, but since it was removed from the Region 1 DVDs, that entire setup and misdirection is completely ruined, and if you never saw the episode originally, you would never have known about it.
The European (Region 2) / Australian (Region 4) DVDs do have the recaps so they do get to see this joke.

Bad, bad episode. Gio is so freaking annoying!! I can't stand to watch him for more than one minute..On the other hand, poor Big Gulp Demon..so sad, he was so cute. I don't really like Gunn's speech about him and Angel not being friends or whatever.

Not my fav episode, although it's not super-terrible. I like Gunn, so there's that. Fred annoys me at this point, although her singing Crazy is awesome. Love the Furies! And I fully agree with them.🙂
NL, I'm glad you made that point, although I did assume that's who Angel was talking about when I saw the close-up. I don't know why I assumed that.
