There was a big discussion going on in another thread about fat people and weight in general. I happened to find this article really interesting. It shows a woman, and how she was photo shopped in 18 different countries to create the perfect image of beauty.

There's a wide variety of shapes but it seems to me that more countries go for the voluptuous than the skinny. Some of these images would be considered at least really chubby in the US

Surgery is September 16th - this is the 10th disc I've had operated on, and the 5th one that will be frozen. Unfortunately pain makes my time in this chair limited. But I have missed you!! And the board.😀

And we've missed you!
That was interesting to see what different countries consider beautiful in women. Someone that might be too skinny or too fat in one country is just right in another.

I don't like those kind of articles.
They're rarely forth-coming with what's really interesting - like who was polled? How many were polled? Why were these specific groups polled? Is there a selection bias? How did they average the result? Was the prevailing image a landslide "win" in the polls or just a marginal one?

The sheer generalization of saying "one nation likes this" is so fallacious it's almost insufferable.
