Okay, so one of the more amusing things about working on eBay is the questions I get. Granted, I would advise EVERYONE to ask questions before they bid, but some people take it too far.

I woke up this morning to a rather run of the mill question from a potential buyer....

<<Hello, this is my first time viewing your art and I think it's fresh. Love this piece but can't afford it right now.
Will return again? >>

So I wrote back and told him that I couldn't be sure. I can say I'll relist it, but I can't say it won't sell in the meantime. Thanked him for his interest and went on with my day.
This afternoon, I got a second email.

<<First of all, are you associated with witchcraft, wicca, black magic, the occult or anything else like these?
I need to know this before I bid because your paintings have that surreal quality to them and I was just wondering.
Thanks in advance>>

I was a little taken off guard. Especially since I barely have anything listed and it's hardly "occult" looking. But, I wrote back, told him I was your basic run of the mill Catholic and even not very good at that because my husband was raised both Baptist and Jewish and we try not to scream religion so as not to have the kids questioning the beliefs of their family members. But, that I DID watch Buffy "occasionally".
It seemed like a WEIRD question. With just THAT one he made it on the list of "weird" ones.
But, THEN, he wrote BACK and he may have jumped to the TOP of the list!

<<Oh no, don't be sorry 'cause I'm so glad you're not into soccery and the like and I'm afraid of dealing with people associated with the occult 'cause it might cast a spell on me to bid on something that I usually wouldn't admire normally. I know there are some out there that possibly use magic to make a bidder interested and you don't need that because your talent speaks volumes by itself. Your future in art is secured and I think your paintings will be much sought after in the near future. You're on the same page with painters like Fabio Napoleon and see what he's doing in the Ebay art world.
Thank you.>>

How'd he find me out? How can he tell from the measly amount of paintings I have up that I'm really Dark Willow and here to cast spells on people in order to make a living? The BETTER question is, why aren't I casting spells to make them sell for MORE?

Sounds like the run of the mill religious fruitcake, if itr saw a bit of Buffy it'd have to baptise itself a 100 times.

Karma for making me laugh all night long! Man oh man!
First ebay, tomorrow world domination. Absolutely terrible. You should be ashamed. That IS a very strange e-buyer though asking those questions. Odd....

ROFLMAO you are positively hilarious!!!

I don't think I can take credit for anything this time!

What are you going to do tonight? Same thing you do every night. TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!
Wow O_O
Do people really do spells to make their stuff sell?

I think the weirdest person i've found on ebay is the guy who answered the question i asked him....he answered it three times 😵

Lou
LOL! I've done that. Even worse, I wrote to the same guy answering OTHER PEOPLE'S questions!
Wow O_O

Yeah, and even if they did, how in the world would this person have found out about any such thing? I mean, if they're afraid to buy something because they think they'll "get a spell on them," they obviously don't run in the same circles as anyone who'd actually try that. I'd probably put this down to someone paying way more attention to TV preachers than is healthy for them.

Hey, Dlou, give me a spell so the German professor will give me a passing grade whether I earned one or not. . . . 😀

Ich denke, dass ich meine Unterwäsche auf meiner Weise zu klassifizieren verlor. Kannst du überprüfen, um zu sehen, wenn ich irgendwelche trage? LOL!
Well, while it's a topic, anyone know a spell that would KEEP AWAY the weirdos?
I'd hate to actually block the guy for being paranoid, extremely forward in asking about other's religious beliefs, and a bit on the judgemental side of anyone NOT in mainstream religion...on the other hand, I'd rather him NOT bid.
And, although, I don't want to put spells on people to make them THINK they like my work, it would be nice if I could find one to ward off the weirdos.

It takes up my Take Over The World time to answer their emails.

And, yes, I WILL be taking over the world tonight...and playing here. I like to multitask.

I'm too lazy to look up all those words right now. :P

Multi-tasking is always good. And what better than balance world domination with a little Buffy?

LMFAO! Pardon me while I wipe up the Pepsi that shot out of my nose!
BB, it goes roughly like this...."I think I lost my underwear on my way to class. Can you check to see if I'm wearing any?"
Maybe he'll be so impressed with your fluency, he'd pass you without having to check!

Not very original, but I've heard it works! See? Not so good at the dark arts or you'd pass without having to study OR lose your underpants and I'd be making millions!

Dlou444 agrees: LMFAO! Pardon me while I wipe up the Pepsi that shot out of my nose!

Sorry for the pepsi spillage 😀 All that wasted soda....but really you brought this upon yourself with this talk of world domination.

Yeah, it's never wise to mess with a dominatrix. They get MEAN!!
People are nuts....''I'm wary of people who deal in soccery!'' an image of the soccer mom from hell jumped into my head when I saw that!

This reminds me of when I worked in Disneyworld in Orlando and guests asked me all these totally ridiculous questions like...

...Does Ireland have cars?...I mean WTF!!!

...Does Ireland have moutains?...Dear God give me strenght!

...Does Ireland have Mac Donalds?...Who doesn't have Mac Donalds?

...Are Lepechauns real?...shoot me now!!!

Edit:

Whoa that must have driven you insane. And in answer to the leprechaun question you should have replied 'yes of course. There's one there' and when they looked in the direction you pointed, you could have run off. haha

Sometimes I would have fun with it and tell people that yes leprechauns are real but we ate them all during the famine, apparenlty they taste like chicken...you would be surprised how many people believed me...

...like I said...people are nuts

=O Remember the yellow crayon, like, now :lmao:

Anyway, people are so random, but that's probably one of the randomest things I've ever heard :lmao:

You should try being from Kentucky. I have, no shit, had people as close as frikkin' Philadelphia ask me if we have telephones and televisions. Brain-dead nits... One of my cousins was asked that in Detroit in the 50s, and (you'd have to know him to appreciate that if he told you the sun came up this morning, you'd seriously want to go look to make sure) he goes:

Cousin, in an exaggerated "TV hillbilly" accent: "Yayuh, we got televisions, but we hain't got no 'lectricity yit."
Dumbass Yankee: "Well, if you don't have electricity, how do you watch TV?"
Cousin: "Oh, well, we run our'n off bottled gas...!" :lmao:

You know, I spent the night and most of the morning wondering why if he thought the paintings had a "surreal" quality, why wouldn't he FIRST ask if I was a drug addict?
I'm not sure I understand the jump from surreal to "black magic". But, that is just me.

My mom made the jump from My Little Pony / Care Bears / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles / Power Rangers / Rainbow Brite to black magic. Who knows?
