Police Machine Gun Sent To Granny
Catherine Roots had been expecting a horse harness to be delivered to her home in Winfrith, Dorset.
But she got a nasty shock when she saw a black Heckler and Koch weapon staring back at her.
The package was delivered by mistake and should have been sent to firearms officers at a nearby police HQ.
Police later explained a gun supply company made a mistake with the postcode when they sent it to Dorset Police HQ in Winfrith near Dorchester.
Instead of sending it to DT2 8DZ, a clerk wrote down Mrs Roots' postcode, which differs only by a single letter.
Mrs Roots, who is in her 50s and runs a smallholding, said: "I was absolutely and totally shocked, and petrified.
"If it had got into the wrong hands the consequences wouldn't bear thinking about.
"After I contacted the police two armed officers turned up and they were as shocked as I was."
Mrs Roots was later told the weapon was in fact a realistic-looking training gun that fires infra-red beams.
Assistant chief constable Adrian Whiting, of Dorset Police, said: "Because this item isn't actually a firearm it is lawful for the company, the suppliers, to use a courier as they did.
"I hasten to add if it was a real firearm we would transport it by hand, making sure that no such error like this could occur.
"The item is perfectly safe and can't cause anyone any harm but it does look like one of our firearms."
Dorset Police is now seeking assurances from its unnamed supplier that such a mistake could never happen again.

I would have kept it though, infra-red gun? Sounds like a laugh.
 
Boy Sneaks Into Store to Play With Toys

BEAUMONT, Texas (Dec. 16) - Texas police responding to a store's burglar alarm found a less-than-hardened criminal inside: He was 4, and playing with the toys.
Detective Randy Stevens says the child apparently unlocked a door at his nearby home, got out, then crossed a street to reach the discount store.

Store surveillance video shows the unidentified boy trying one of the front doors to a Family Dollar store about 3 a.m. Monday, only to find it locked. But the second door was unlocked and the child went inside.
That triggered the silent alarm.
"When the officers got there, he was showing them his toys," said Officer Crystal Holmes.
Child Protective Services says the boy will be allowed to stay with extended relatives while they review the incident.

The little kid just wants to show them all his new toys, that's pretty cute.

To quote Perry Como, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I heard about that...seriously messed up...
German "news" website t-online reported, that a small boy was playing hide-and-seek with friends infront of a shop selling safes. He hid himself insight one of the safes. Lukcily though a pedestrian spotted the boy hiding in there so he called the police, as soon as the door closed, so they could get him out. Nevertheless it took them a couple of hours. Therefore the safe wasn't that safe (in every word of the meaning 😉 )

very interesting.. a quote from the article that stuck out for me:

"After the procedure, all patients have to take medication for the rest of their lives, which suppresses their immune system to prevent the transplanted skin being rejected."
that seems potentially dangerous to me.

It's always been my understanding that any sort of transplant required that to avoid rejection.

Now that's definetly news to me, that you should suppress your immune system. At very most, you have to get rid of your immunme system, to be transplant, but afterwards, you better be sure to have one otherwise you are kinda dead.
Yes that thing with the safe occured in Turkey...



So anyway, latest on the news: British Royal Navy wants to install a Windows XP version on their nuclear submarines and later perhaps even on their destroyers as the main computer software. Experts are highly alarmed, however British navy statements say that the Royal Navy is very happy with the new programme, as it limits costs for the navy. Already the development phase has cut costs by 25%. However, I wonder if Windows XP will proof its worthiness in a combat situation without causing blue screens... Well that's what the author of that news broadcast is wondering. "Blue Screen of Death". Yikes.
