The 100 is my current Buffy level obsession. But I was left bitterly disappointed by season 6. The whole cast seems burnt out. The plot was crap, the dialogue was repetitive, the costumes and sets more like a childs birthday party and the characters were all bizarre. Their depiction of psychosis was near on insulting.
I really enjoyed the first few seasons, thought it was solid for an escapism show. Nothing mindblowing but it doesn't set out to be more than popular entertainment. I like seeing a few familiar faces, the sets, its all easy on the eye and simple to follow. Seeing season 6 makes me wish they had slowed it down a bit and spent longer on Earth in the realm of Lexa. Maybe looking beyond their own little corner of the planet. I'd even have been keen to get deeper into the bunker and Bloodrina, as dark at that might have got. Or longer in space. I guess the mythology was fully explored and there was no where else to go.
Season 6 appeared to try and follow what worked on TVD, getting the lead to play two characters. Unfortunately this flopped. Josephine was probably too similar to Clarke and it showed Elizas limitations rather than strengths. They should have got her playing a ditzy mole instead, shes had enough practice at that. The inner mind war episode gave me hope the season would pick up, but it just didn't.
Octavia and Bellamy's relationship was the highlight. Both taking responsibility for themselves instead of each other was long over due. I like Octavia and Gabriel but it skirts close to Octavia and Lincoln which I dont need to see again (the Bangel of the series). I am intrigued by the anomaly but know it cant be anything too big because s7 is the last season. I hope it makes up for the mess of season 6 which is thankfully over and tied up in a bow. I'd hate to see the show go out on a lower note than that.
