The action or the drama - which do you enjoy more?

Now it's probably about both equally but back when I started watching it was mostly the action. I would tape it when it aired (oh those crazy VHS days 😉) and then re-watch the eps, usually rewinding to watch the fight scenes over and over again.


(... and maybe Angel, over and over again) 😀
 
I actually enjoy the drama (or you could say the story) a bit more.

The action stuff is also cool, but it sometimes seems to me like many of the fighting scenes are pretty much the same:
Buffy catches some vampires trying to bite someone in some dark alley, she says, "run," and the victim runs away, then she says a cool line and kills the vampires. (that's the exaggerated version 😉 )

But I think it depends on the episodes, really. There are some epic fighting scenes, for example Buffy and Willow in Two To Go, or some scenes with Glory.

The comedy. 🙂 Seriously, the drama, totally. I mostly fast-forward the action scenes.
 
I watch it for the drama (and comedy), but I actually love the fight scenes. Sometimes they're cheesy, but sometimes they're pretty bad-ass and I like how they don't last an incredibly long time.
 
The drama. When I started to watch as a kid, it was mostly "OMG she's kicking vampires butt!" but now, what I think about what makes the show brilliant, it's the drama, what goes on between the characters.

Sidenote; I do prefer action music fanvideos to drama fanmusic vids though.
 
I also want to say the humor. It's the funny stuff that makes BtVS such a brilliant show imho.

Buffy's action scenes has some kind of charm though that I always liked. But it isn't really the reason why I love the show.

Yes. Humor, action, drama and special effects. And the charme of the actors. That's why BTVS is so great!
For me - its the drama! I love emotional stuff and the acting in dramatic scenes! When its done good, and the acting is so powerful - there's really nothing that beats it!

(I do love some of the action though - esp fighting scenes with Faith (Grad Day Pt 1, This Years Girl/Who Are You? Five by Five!) and yer as JCoatsworth mentioned some Glory fights!! 🙂 )
 
Uh that's difficult. First I have to say that both are important parts of the show! Without Drama or without action BTVS wouldn't be as good as it is now!
When I started I loved the action a little bit more than the drama. But I still loved dramatical episodes too.
In the later seasons (upon season5) I tend to drama! Becasue there are so many characters with different friendships to another character. Becasue it's getting complicated and more interesting. You can't just subdivide into good and bad. Spike is a good example. He tried to abuse Buffy but I still think there are a lot of Spuffy-fans out there! Everybody has to decide by himself. So different oppinions arises. Without them this forum wouldn't make much sense 😀!
But the best drama season would be bad if there is not enough action! If not you get bored I think! BTVS handled a good balance between the two elements!
 
I like action, but it's the drama that does it for me. If I needed an action fix, I'd probably just watch Die Hard or Terminator or some such movie. I love drama. Especially angst. 😀
 
The characters, the interaction between them and the humour.


So between action and drama what would be drama. Don't really care about the action as such. But not much beat the "What's that do?" (The Judge) scene and I guess that goes under the action category.
 
Oh drama, by far. The action was fun and all... but I've never been an "action" person. I hate action genre movies, because I think they're overdone and boring. I hate shows that only focus on action... I need characters and drama and romance and all of it.
 
I was never an action fan myself either. I hate those "action" type of people. This one guy I know swears that he will never watch any type of movie other than action. Lots and lots of action. I'm like, what's the purpose of even watching a movie? (Or television shows for that matter). All action yet no plot, no character development, no conflict, no emotions....and you'll lose me. That's why I love that Buffy balances everything out. Sure, Buffy has some kick-ass fights (my favorites being the "Primeval" and "Spiral" fights), but because we care about these characters are the reasons why those action sequences are heightened to another level. There's a reason why the Buffy/Willow fight was so epic, and not because of cool combo kicks.
 
It's always been about...everything. I mean, that's why I loved it as a kid. I was (and am) the most dramatic kid on the planet and I loved the horror, comedy, and action so it was just the perfect show for me. It kind of depends on what I'm in the mood for. I feel like every episode has a little bit of drama in it, so that's a given. If I want action, I watch Graduation Day Part 1&2 (The scene with Buffy and Faith, in Buffy's dream used to make me cry as a kid. Yes. I actually cried.) or Becoming Part 1&2...and, well there are ton that I could watch for that haha

If I want comedy then I'll watching Superstar, Something Blue, The Zeppo...yeah. I can't pick just one aspect of the show! Haha...ugh. The scarier episodes (what I considered scary back then) were what caught my attention originally.

Also, the fight scenes are insanely cheesy. I still love them but they're so ridiculous haha sometimes I just crack up at how crazy they are. I do love the Buffy/Faith fight in Graduation Day Part 1...and it may be one of the cheesiest.

I love cheese.
