Question The age of a vampire and the age of the 'host'

So the thread at the moment about The Annointed One made me question something which hadn't occurred to me before.

When a vampire infests a human body, is it born there and then or is it an existing demon which now has a home? The reason I ask is that The Annointed was a vampire in a child's body who had a bunch of lackeys who did his bidding and followed his orders. As a rule if a kid starts telling adults what to do, they are going to either ignore him or smack him around until he stops being a bossy little so-and-so.

Does an adult body get an adult demon inside and a child get a young one?

Interesting propostition... I think that every vampire is hosted by a "newborn" demon, but however long the prexisting human was alive, is how mature he/ she will be. Because they still use the brain of the human, and that brain is more mature the older it is. As for the Annointed One himself, I think he just has special circumstances... being all Annointed and everything.

I think that the demon which takes over the body is a new demon. I think it's born in a way from the vampire who did the siring, and is linked to him/her (take The Master's chain of vampires he's sired. From Darla to Angel to Drusilla to Spike, they all come from The Master, and they all seem, like him, to be more powerful than common vampires). I think that the demon which comes into the person becoming a vampire, is a bit of a parasite. I mean, vampires clearly share traits with the people they used to be prior to their siring. So I think that things like age, personality and memories are all kind of fused together between the host and the new demon.

That's just a theory though, I have no idea what's in Joss' head when he writes Buffy.
