Since there appears to be some doubt as to whether the events of the "After The Fall" series are actually canon, here's an exercise in imagination for anyone who cares to try.

Imagine that you are Joss Whedon, and you have been given the funding and the go ahead from the network to make Angel, Season 6. All of the actors from the "Angel" series are willing and able to return. Without resorting to either a rescue by an army of Slayers or a benevolent dragon with flame breath, how would you save tha good guys?
 
Have Angel take the Mutari Generator with him before leaving WF&R, zap Illyria and have her defeat WR&H's army and then have her as the big bad

Actually, when I wrote a Season 6 fanfic, that's the solution I used.

But in all honesty, I kinda like the idea that Angel and his aren't "saved". The idea that they are sent to hell to punish them and that they have to escape that would have been a great idea for Season 6.
 
Spike was wearing an amulet in the alley (you just can't see it because of where it is strategically placed and a rip-off of the Buffy finale ensues.
 
I'd let them stay in hell. I'd make Gunn start trying to build an army and take over the new 'hell' and have him be the puppet for a much larger evil. I might be able to flesh that out a bit better and include arcs for trhe other characters after a thinkie.
