idk, for me personally I think letting him live was the right choice. Spike wasnt acting of his own volition and his potential usefulness I think overpowers the immediate need to kill him. I mean would we even be discussing this situation if it were one of the scoobies or a potential who the first were forcing to kill? Thinking logically though killing Spike whether it was in his control or not probably should have been considered but I dont think the situation was to the point where he should have been killed yet. I suppose it could be looked at as a double standard but perhaps the double standard is that Giles wouldnt have suggested killing a scoobie or potential that the first was doing that to but because it was Spike he had no problem with it.

Buffy is a sucker for her feelings...she was traumatized after sticking Angel early on...the only one shes quick to think of taking out is Anya and well lets face it they weren't really close

It's about social hierarchy. Willow used to be Buffy's minion, like Harmony to Cordelia. In season 5 and 6 she proves that when she wants to she can be the top dog. She defeated Buffy and got away with it, what else needs to be said? She's stronger and she knows it. Yeah, she doesn't order people around when she doesn't have to, not her style but look at "Chosen", Willow's actually more important in the final battle than Buffy. Buffy screws up, dies from that stab wound? Nothing happens. Willow screws up? Well, that's the end of the world basically. It used to be exactly opposite. Like in the previous season, Willow defeats the antagonist, Buffy is irrelevant.

Yeah, apart from the fact that Buffy came up with the plan to begin with (hardly irrelevant), and Willow's crippling self-doubt. Being most powerful does not make you the boss, that's the flaw in your argument.

I think it's not even close to 'social heirarchy' or 'power' or almost anything of the sort you people have mentioned, mind you, I am not bullying, but this IS a discussion forum- and here's my input: the bond between Miss Elizabeth (Buffy) Summers and Miss Rosenberg is one of non-identical twins in all but reality!
What Willow did was horrible, her conduct in regards to her girlfriend is horrible, she had gone Badly astray, but the bond boils down to perception! Buffy Loves Willow as if they are adopted twins! She just couldn't bring herself to kill her... even after she abandons most of her moral limits (season 8).

To ascetain the bond, look at the catfight in the magic box; it's almost 2 young adult daughters of the 'community defense leader' fighting in the armory! (To put it in another context).
I think Willow was simply envious of Buffy, and my fanfiction tells that story (about as valid as any other fanfiction out there)... Willow was jealous of Buffy's preternatural abilities and that envy got them into fights., a 'Cain and Abel situation' (minus the murder), sheer corporate jealosy!
Dark Willow is simply Willow when she's gone bad, and I know something of badness!
Will's comment when she sees Giles at the door indicates that I am correct, she says "Uh Oh, Daddy's home, I am in big trouble now." of course it's possible that she was mocking him, but it's also consistant with his role: teacher, father-figure, guide, and such.
He'd definitely see it that way. It's like in real life if a man's daughter (one of several) got addicted to steroids and got into a fight with her sister in the shop (where they are co-workers), Just my POV.

Technically. The battle takes place during the day. The activated slayers can retreat out of the school and the vampires can't follow them.

Wasn't there something said about keeping the ubervamps from getting into the tunnels beneath Sunnydale? Granted,even there, they would be unable to get outside until sunset, but once in the tunnels, they could have scattered to the point that, even with the help of her new Slayers, Buffy would never be able to track them all down.
