The Anti-demon violence spell in Caritas

One question that just got me thinking, if Buffy and/or Faith went to Caritas would they get spanked by the sanctuary spell? Do they have enough of a demon essence to be effected by it, or are they human enough to be ignored by the spell. The only time we see a Slayer present while the sanctuary spell was active was when Faith was at the hotel during season 4, but she never actually tries to hit anyone inside the hotel. So would they be effected by that spell?

I'd say yes. I figure the spell is an all-or-nothing thing, so if you have any demon in you then it'd take effect.

Well, it worked on Connor, so I'm guessing [MENTION=6330]arabella[/MENTION] is right.

Of course, when you think about it, maybe there's so little of the demon within slayers that it wouldn't count? I mean, even though Spike's chip if different than magic (one assumes) before Buffy died, the chip didn't sense enough demon in her. Maybe they would have slipped past the spell as well.

Well, remember that when Lorne re-spelled Caritas, he made it go for human as well as demon violence.

Just what I was about to say. 🙂 I think the Slayers would be hindered by the spell, because they do have a little demon in them.

What I'm not sure about is whether Faith was supposed to sit by if and when Angelus entered the hotel. I would imagine they wanted to keep her battle ready.

I'm not sure if Connor's case is exactly the same as a Slayer. Connor was described as part demon because of his vampire heritage whereas Slayers are effectively human with the power of a demon. Spike's chip seemed to sense Buffy as any other human (until Season 6), so I'd say it's an open call.
