The Assassination Of Cordelia Chase

I completely agree! I couldn't believe they invested so much into Cordelia's character just to abruptly cut her out of the show. She was such a essential character in the show. I was very disappointed with season 5 because of her lack of character, and how they killed her off with no morning. Very upsetting.
 
I loved Cordy but after season 4 I so didn't miss her in season 5 until "You're welcome" and then I was like damn, there's the Cordy I love, where did she go? Where has she been?
And I love watching that ep for some Cordy love, I thought it was very upsetting when I read that that episode was intentionally meant for SMG. I would have loved seeing SMG on Angel season 5 but what if she had said yes - would they just have let Cordy rot in her coma? Wouldn't she have gotten a finish to her story?

I think the slow assassination of Cordy really is the most inexusable thing in the Whedonverse, I think it started after half of season 3 and then slowly she just stopped being the Cordy I once 'knew' and loved. they definitely did wrong by her character
 
This still annoys me at how Cordy was just practically erased out of Angel. Season 4 for her character was almost unbearable to watch. Her and Connor getting involved was the start of the big downhill spiral followed by her being evil and giving birth to Jasmine and then just leaving her in a coma. Its the easiest and crappiest storyline a show can use. I was pretty upset that Joss did that. He reused the coma part more or less from when Faith was in a coma but at least that storyline went somewhere.

When Cordy came back in season 5 I thought they'd wrap it up a little bit more but to have her basically die and "never woke up." That was just silly and to have no one after that mourning Cordy or even giving her a proper funeral was just pants. If anything I always thought it was one reason why Angel finished so abruptly after season 5 with a cancellation. One of its best love characters was gone and its obvious to see a lot of fans didn't like it.
 
Cordelia was and always will be one of my favorite characters. She is my favorite female character, because of her transformation throughout. I hate that her character was so mishandled at the end. I love "You're Welcome", and all, but I agree there was not near enough done. Noone mourned her, she was an integral part of Angel since the beginning and then they all just acted like she had never been there, it sucks. But no matter how it ended up, she is still the best girl in the Buffyverse in my opinion.

yes! exactly, it's a huge crime against her character. It was like she didn't just stop being Cordy, she stopped to matter! I'll never be ok with that
