Spoiler! The Avengers at D23!

Some of The Avengers cast showed up (Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulder, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston) at D23 to preview some exclusive footage from the movie.

Joss, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L Jackson couldn't attend as they're still busy filming but from what a lot of articles are saying, what was shown was very exciting.

The clip opens with Sam Jackson's Nick Fury in a control room speaking to a captured Loki (Tom Hiddleston) within a glass cage. The two exchange a bit of banter, Fury with confidence and Loki with an overabundance of smugness. The Avengers team"”Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Cap (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) watch on. "He kind of grows on you, doesn't he," says Ruffalo with a smirk. In another scene, Stark has a cocktail while talking to someone (it's made to look like he's talking to Loki but the cut is odd and doesn't clearly match up). "Let's take a headcount," Stark offers. "We've got a couple of highly trained assassins" [quick action scene of Black Widow and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner)], a demigod [shot of Thor] and a living legend who kinda lives up to the legend [shot of Captain America]." Loki says, "We have an Army." Stark smirks and responds, "We have a Hulk." The clip ends with Hulk roaring at the screen, which appears to be from the 2008 "Hulk" movie. Cut to the Avengers logo and out.

I don't know about everyone else, but this really excites me, Joss seems to be doing a really good job so far and reading about the clip shown about just adds to that. Could May 2012 not come any faster! 😀

Hopefully, the movie will actually live up to its hype. Then again, if it's TOO successful, Joss might concentrate on "Avengers 2" to the detriment of the Buffyverse.

It's so funny, earlier in the summer I walked into the Disney Store at my local mall with my kids, and I was like "what is up with all the Marvel stuff?" (not that we were disappointed, as my boys love it). I had completely missed the news that Disney bought Marvel!

 

[Whirlwind]

I can't wait for this movie. I've been reading The Avengers ever since Bendis started writing them, and Iron Man is my favorite Marvel character. This should be great.
