So the theatrical trailer for The Avengers has officially been released and so far I'm impressed with it. Loving the fact that Nine Inch Nails is playing in the background. I think Joss has done a bang up job and really can't wait for the film now. My week has been made!

The special effects are fantastic. Now, if Joss can just tell a story worthy of the CGI...

(Of course, as a purist, I just HAVE to point out that the original Avengers were Iron Man [in his original golden Pillsbury Dough Boy armor], Thor, Giant Man [formerly Ant Man, but he grew], the Wasp, and the Hulk. Captain America didn't show up until issue #5, and Hawkeye not for a couple of years. The Avengers were never affiliated with Nick Fury or SHIELD in any official way, and I can't remember the Black Widow ever being a regular team member. But I can live with the inaccuracies, just as long as the story is good)

Yeah the superhero "origin" films rarely follow the comics. But Black Widow has been in the Avengers
Looks very good. I hope they keep Loki up to the standards that Thor set for the character. He better not become a one-dimensional villain.

Joss Whedon needs to stop re-using old Buffy lines though. "Take all of that away and what are you?" reminds me too much of what Angelus said to Buffy.

I have to say it looks amazing! I'm feeling excited about this 🙂

Well, it's about time! 🙂

Looks pretty interesting. And Samuel L. Jackson's voice is so awesome! 😀

Epic is the word i'm looking for. I really want this to do well at the box office, Joss deserves to get more funding for his projects and this is his golden opportunity

I don't even watch superhero Marvel stuff, but it's Joss. If it has his name on it, I'll be watching. Very excited 😀

It looks good... Unlike you Scourge, I like how he used a Buffy line in this, haha. 🙂 Of course Tony Stark' line was not even close to Buffy's one, but yea... 😉

I'll watch it probably because of Joss too. I'm not a big Marvel fan.

This looks awesome, and it's so Joss Whedon. I'm expecting at least as many witty remarks in the rest of the movie as in this scene. I am a little afraid about the CGI though. I strongly believe the abundance of CGI had a negative effect on Serenity, and I hope that doesn't happen to this movie as well. On the other hand, Thor was pretty much completely focused on the CGI and I liked it, I just hope Joss takes this in a different direction; you know, more focus on plot, characters, and dialogue.

I hope not. I don't care about story in these kind of movies, I want to see The Avengers fighting side-by-side beating the sh*t out of things

I totally agree. Best part of superhero to film adaptations is the visual action
Man Iron Man shone in that! I have zero knowledge on the other avengers, cept I'm kinda excited to see Hulk/Bruce Banner, cause Mark Ruffalo is so awesome. I havent read any spoilers (nor do i know anything about marvel), but i'm interested to see more of this villain, why he's so huge that it warranted getting all these heroes together. But it's also a Joss Whedon project, so that's exciting.

Loki is the brother of Thor, and son of Odin. His power over magic is legendary.

You should check out the Thor movie; it would explain all about him. Loki is one of the best parts about Thor, and the actor who plays him is great.

I'd definitely reccomend you to watch Thor to see how Loki becomes such a badass, along with The Incredible Hulk (2008). Mark Ruffalo obviously isn't in that one but it ties up with The Avengers. I'm still waiting to see Captain America but it's really helped with the storylines coming together in to The Avengers. I'm stoked! 😀

Sweet! Oh it's Loki? I didn't even know that much. I'm in DC mode, and I gotta read up on Marvel--I know nothing heh! I definitely wanna see Thor and Captain America one of these days though. I saw the one with Ed Norton, that little scene with Tony Stark I think it was, was EPIC--the start of something great.

Amazing, May can't come soon enough! We're big Marvel fans at our house. And if you ask my kids "Who's directing the Avengers?" they know the right answer is "Joss Whedon". 🙂
