(I know that I've already done one scene swap, but I hope you'll indulge me here, because this just popped into my mind last night.)
Buffy standing beside her mother's grave. The sun goes down. Soft footsteps behind her, and a hand gently touches her shoulder.
Spike: Sorry about your mum, Slayer. She was a real lady. We'll all miss her.
Buffy: I heard them. When you came last night. Xander shouldn't have...Mom would've...
Spike: Doesn't matter. He was just tryin' to...Doesn't matter. I just wanted you to know...I'll be around. You need anything, just...
(Spike turns to leave. Buffy takes hold of his sleeve, stopping him)
Buffy: Could you...Would you mind staying? Just for a little while?
Spike: Long as you want, pet. Long as you want.
Buffy: Tell me. About you and Mom. What did you talk about, all those nights? Mom and I hadn't done that since I was a kid.
(Several yards away, shrouded in shadows, a tall, dark figure watches for a moment, then turns and quietly walks away)
Nothing romantic. Just two people remembering someone who they both loved, who loved both of them, who has passed away.
