Question The Best BuffyVerse Flashback Episode?

I was watching Lies My Parents Told Me this week (amazing episode) and it got me thinking that so many great Buffy and Angel episodes contain flashbacks, especially of Angelus, Spike, Darla and Drusilla. They are so good in giving us a backstory to the characters and offering the viewer a chance to see how the past shaped what we are watching in the present.

Which one is your favourite and why? It can be from either BtVS or from AtS. If you've only seen BtVS, then choose from the selection of Buffy flashback episodes. If you are a fan of both choose one for the poll and then you can post your favourite BtVS and your favourite AtS!

Should be interesting to see which one is most favoured!!

The one that really sticks out for me is Heartthrob. Even though they were demons, I still felt sorry for James and Elizabeth. They were such an adorable couple, even for vamps.

I voted for The Prodigal I really liked the flashbacks in that one. Poor angels uhh liams sister 🙁 I would have liked to see more about her.

But I also wanted to vote for Fool For Love that one has awesome flashbacks too.

I voted for "Are you now or have you ever been" because it's one of my favorite Angel episodes out of the whole series. I think it's brilliant and really caught the paranoia of the time. Plus it's always great to see some of Angel's "lost" years. 🙂

I absolutely love flashback episodes. I chose Fool For Love because I'm a total Spike fan, and the introduction of poet William had me completely thrown and loving it at the same time. Special mention to Selfless.

I had a really hard time choosing between "Are You Now or Have You Ever Been" and "Selfless" because I've watched them both a ton! But I chose "Selfless" because it has all the Anya!

For me, its between "Fool For Love" and "Darla." "Darla" is probably my favourite-ever AtS episode, but I also love "Fool For Love" not just because of it giving us entry into Spike's past (which is amazing!!) but also because of the questions it raises about the nature of the Slayer. These two episodes aired originally on the same night and some scenes occur in both.

SO difficult to decide!!!! I think I like the focus on Darla more as she's my favourite AtS character and my favourite vampire in the BuffyVerse, but as an episode I think they are both up there!!

Will come back to the poll and vote after I rewatch Darla as Fool For Love is relatively fresh in my mind and havent seen Darla for some time...

The episode Darla is what got me hooked on Angel, I really loved it when I saw it for the first time...so I pick that one. I also liked the Five By Five flashbacks and Lies My Parents Told Me...ahh. I'll pick Darla for Angel and LMPTM for Buffy.

Hard choice. My first thought was 'Fool For Love' but I wound up picking 'Destiny'. I really love that episode. Now if we were judging only on the flashback scenes I may have voted differently, but I chose based as a whole episode. 😀

That really was a tough one. So many great episodes, but in the very end, thou shall select Fool For Love.....because I'm a "fool" for this episode. It hit all the right notes, and it felt like I was watching an epic movie. I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched this episode, or certain scenes for that matter. I mean, how many times can you rewind the Fab Four walking out of China in slow motion without the DVD skipping, huh? 😀

But Out Of Gas came as a close second. The best episode of Firefly, and one of my favorite episodes of television.
