The Big Bad of S2

Who was the real "Big Bad'' of season 2? I thought it was Spike and Dru, but many others think it was Angel, so I wanna hear what you think.

dru and spike.. i mean angel was bad too.. just that i never was a fan of angel.. not as good or as evil, i liked dru.. she was so crazy and mean.. and spike was pretty bad himself at some points in s2

I picked Angelus. I personally went crazy when Angel went evil vamp on the show. I luved Angel and was so shocked and upset when he was being cruel and evil to everybody! I couldn't wait until he turned back...

it shouldnt be big bad...angelus is the big evil and spike and dru are the big bads...which means angelus is worse(best bad guy..well,worst,i guess),so that's why my vote goes for him

Spike and Dru were more funny than bad for me....Angelud is the ultimate big evil in s2....

Angelus was the big bad in season 2, in my opinion. He caused Buffy the most trouble, and Spike went soft anyway, he was more bothered about getting Dru back than killing Buffy.

And he was really good at it, as Spike was just weak...

Interesting question. You know, part of what I love most about Buffy is the way things can shift and change and evolve. Spike and Dru were definitely the "big bads" of the first half of season 2, and then Angelus came along and took up the mantle.

But look at where they ended up at the end of season two. The three main bad guys: Spike made a pact with the hero, knocked out Dru and ran away. Angeulus was restored to Angel and then immediately martyred by his true love to save the world. Compare that to the previous and following seasons (Master - killed. Mayor - killed) and you'll have a good idea of why I think season 2 is so brilliant. Of course, I think season THREE is brilliant, too (and season four, and....) but I like the unconventional way Season 2 is resolved. And on a random unrelated note, BOO HISS to Smallville ending THEIR season 2 with a copycat of Buffy's (Clark Kent running away to the big city).

I wouldn't say Angelus is better than Spike and Dru in the slightist but they definately cast him as the seasons big bad in the finale. But that's also the only time I really liked him on Buffy.
