Update The Buffies 2011

Hello. 🙂

I have a question. I thought that the nominations was like a vote, and that the members with the most votes was the people who got the awards. Now I've heard that it's actually the staff who decides in the end who gets nominated and wins.

It's always hard to detect tone in text so before I keep writing I just want to say that I don't mean to be rude or sound angry, I'm only curious of the thought behind it and the whole show as this will be my first year attending. 🙂 So I was wondering: What is the point of the nominations? Is it so you in the staff can get an idea of people you could put up for the award? Or is the nominations a way for the people with the most votes the way to "qualify" to be from the people you select from and then you in the staff decide the winners from there?

Looking forward to the ceremony! I hope I can attend, especially now when I have such a awesome date to bring! 😀

Isn't it the most votes for a User from BuffyBoarders decides the winner?

I believe it goes that the members nominate and the staff votes but someone on staff can clarify for sure.

The way "The Buffies" have always worked is like this:

1) We open up nominations for the categories (which we have done).

2) Once the nomination deadline is closed those members who recieved the most nominations for a category will go to the stage.

3) The voting is done by the Awards Committee (this is made up of staff and any special selected members).

4) The nominee with the most votes get the award, simples 🙂

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the info!

Please remember that nomiations close on Saturday 19th February.

Please also read the first post fully before sending in your votes.

Extra information is required for the following:

Storyteller Award - Best fanfic posted (or completed) in 2010.
Sunnydale Art Gallery Award - Best piece of artwork posted in 2010.
Xander/Anya Award - Funniest BB moment (a thread, single post or series of posts) in 2010.

For these three awards you must send an accompanying thread and/or post to what story, piece of art or funny moment you are nominating.

I am spending a lot of my time responding to PMs asking for this information because people are not reading the full post. If I have asked you for this information please respond as soon as possible, otherwise you run the risk of your nomination in that category being discounted.

I have a question about the Xander/Anya Award - Funniest BB moment award: can it be something that occurred in a dorm, or does it have to be in a thread open to every BBer. Thanks!

Nominations close today.

I can't believe I have to say this again but PLEASE give me all the information asked for in my first post. There are some awards that require additional information and I have spent most of my time trying to get this from people.

What time today? I've just done a night shift and want to sleep before I have to concentrate on sending them in/finding the relevant info!

Iiiih, it's almost time, it's almost time! My husband is coming to visit me that weekend but I said that I'll be busy in the evening, lol. I said that he should create a userprofile and go as my date, but then he said "No! You're going with Buffy, how could I take that away from you?" That... was the moment I knew I married the right man. LOL.

I don't either.:(
3am Perth time. Well then sadly I won't be able to make it. I mean I could, but I'm fairly certain that at that time on a Friday night I would definitely be breaking the 'drunk posting' rule. I will be there about 4 or 5 hours late I guess. It sucks so bad always missing the good times. One of these days I'm going to organise an exclusive event that runs on Australian time. Yeeeeooowww!
