The Buffy Movie Remade?

lmao. no lucky for me i only saw it when i accidentally caught it on tv and it was way into the show, i think season 6 or 7.
 
Have to admit that i didn't hate the original movie when i first saw it way back when.

It was just a little light entertainment then though, a way to kill a couple of hours. I didn't know anything about Joss and had no idea it would become what it did.

Comparing it to the series now, well obviously there really is no comparison to be made. I'd just have to agree and say that i'm very grateful that Joss stuck to it and got his second chance to tell the story as he really wanted to.

Okay so I'll admit it, I love the movie lol. It's totally cheesy and bad lol, but I still like it for the mindless entertainment value lol. And hey, it made me watch the show... 😀
 
Well I had seen it long before the show came out, and since I liked it, I watched the show. Also I was a big SMG fan so I watched it for that 🙂
 
lol no sorry didn't mean it to sound bad or snything. it's just that when you said that i was really surprised. i react weird when i am lol. you're the first and only person i've spoken to who loved the movie *and* watched the show because of it. way to go 😉
 
I think the only slayer mythology we got out of The movie(which I own) is how The Watchers Council can find potential slayers, with the mole on the back of their neck and Buffy getting hers removed thus why she was trained so late in the game.
 
And that bit of mythology was dropped by the series entirely, along with the vampire proximity cramps, thankfully! 😉

I have to admit that the movie was at least partly responsible for me getting into Buffy the series too. I actually watched the show right from the start. I caught the very first airing of Welcome to the Hellmouth in the UK on Sky One. It was a Saturday night and our plans for going out had fallen through so i had a quick scan through the tv mag to see what was on.

I saw Buffy the Vampire Slayer listed and not having heard about the show i figured it must have been the movie (didn't pay much attention to the fact it was only on for an hour obviously 😀), which i decided to watch as there was nothing else on anyway.

How surprised was i to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and the rest of the cast? It was like a breath of fresh air to watch and i can honestly say that i never missed an episode from that night onward. I watched the first run of every episode of both Buffy and Angel without fail all the way through to Not Fade Away.
 
Actually, I have to come clean. I liked the movie when I first saw it too. To be honest I still find it quite watchable, and catch it on reruns every once in a while.

I was a little surprised when I started hearing the bad remarks some were so vocal in making towards it. I liked the way it played against the stereotypes of the time, the light, easy, nature of it in the horror genre trappings, the jibes, and the odd outright funny remark or situation. Also I think there's a possibility it broke ground for a lot of stuff that followed. Clueless jumps to mind.
 
i think i'll just put the three of you in a little white room and be done with it 🙂

Hehe, I believe you, that I didn't miss anything. And I would never ever watch the movie if I wasn't already a real fan of the show. I want to see the movie now though, just for fun.. I don't think I'll connect it to the show much, really.

lol I was like 5-6 when I first saw the movie so ofcourse it appealed to me and I only saw glimpses of it throughout the years so I decided to go out and buy it when I saw it at BestBuy so I could add it to my Buffy collection. Its always nice comparing and contrasting between both. Sure its not the best movie but I dont really hate it to death, I will watch it every now and then.

And I know im weird but I always wanted Kristie Sutherland(whatever Movie Buffys name is) to make a cameo in the series as a slayer or something, I thought it would be funny.
