The Buffy sets

Right soo after buffy ended 🙁 in season 7,
what happend to the sets for example

- Main street
- The house on the stage (not the real house)
- UCSD hall ways
- The new high school
- The Magic Box
- Grave yards (the fake ones)
- Xander and Anyas appartment
- Spikes crip (i can't remmber seeing it in season 7 which is a shame i found it rather cute)

What did they do with the sets?? Can you go see them? or what.
If they just got rid of them that would be such a shame, they should of keep them and highed them out for tours lol, i would of 100% of gone! and im sure most buffy fans would have.

Unfortunately, they tend to just destroy this kind of thing. It takes up space in a studio, and the network does not want that.

A slightly unrelated story that I thought was fantastic is that Peter Jackson, the director of The Lord of the Rings, decided to keep Bilbo's hobbit hole in storage to save it being destroyed, and he plans to re-build it one day and retire to a hobbit hole in a field in New Zealand. How great would that be?!? So, maybe they did save something from Buffy.

well i know part of the UC sunnydale set was actually filmed on a school campus... someone give me the name cuz i forget. but they said it on commentary. but yeah, i wish the summers' house still existed, because really was like all the connecting rooms, it was huge, and i wish there were tours 🙁

I can see it now: Restless, the tour. That would be amazing, going from one stage to another, to another....

A lot of the sets are pretty generic, just miscellaneous street/alley/wall sets on studio lots, used for whatever production group needs them at the moment. Just add or remove a street sign or shop front here and there, and Sunnydale becomes Smallville, or whatever location is required. Even some of the other sets that are built specifically for "Buffy," of "Angel" were no doubt dismantled, recycled, or rearranged to serve in some other series or movie. Big studios don't waste nearly as much as you might imagine. If it can be used later, it probably will be.

The school was UC Santa Cruz. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that it's UC Santa Cruz.

I thought UCSunnydale was filmed at UCLA, but its a shame if they did just dismatel them and get rid of them,
like if Main street with the Movie theater, expresso pump and magic box isnt there anymore its sad to think that
the "buffy town" is no longer alive if you get me. Like we watch it on DVD's and stuff and its alive in our
imaginations but its no longer really there.

my sister visited the high school they shot at, torrance high. she has pictures in the quad and on the staircase, and that walkway where jenny gets killed as well. it was also west beverly high in 90210 and i think the school in bring it on.

I would love to have bought things from the set... I would spend a lot of money buying furniture from the library, or the table that's in the magic box. I wish I had've known about the how i met your mother auction earlier, would have loved to have gone crazy buying Lilys clothes!

The streets and town sets are no doubt being used over and over again. The studios keep that stuff on back lots and they just roll them out when they need them. Some sets are permanently set up (like the town that served as town in Pylea and as the setting in 1898, when the Fanged Four were in China...yes, same set!) and they shoot from different angles to get a different "look," or use different things to dress the sets, so they don't look the same. They'd have dismantled some of the sets from Buffy and Angel, but probably not all of them, and of the stuff they did destroy, they're using the materials to build new sets. Like wa says, they really don't waste much. It's kinda neat when you watch a show or movie to see something that looks familiar, that's happened to me before.
