The Buffyreboot is dead for now...

I'm happy the reboot idea has stalled. I've always stated that I'd find it hard to watch Buffy without the original cast or Joss being involved. I take people's points that a reboot could match or be better than the show. However I wouldn't want a new version to be better than the original. Buffy is something I hold dear and I don't want another interpretation of it. I want to remember Buffy as the show which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon etc.

That's just completely counterproductive though.

In my personal opinion, Joss Whedon's greatness is those "moments". BtVS is pretty inconsistent, with OOC-ness, plotholes abound, and general cheesiness (or maybe that was just the '90s). But it was those shining moments that make BtVS much better than any show that was just more consistent.

I'm relieved this isn't happening anytime soon. To me Buffy is still too current to be re-booted (a bit like the Spiderman film franchise.) I still wouldn't be surprised if this happens within the next 10 years though. Everything seems to be getting "re-booted" these days, it's a growing trend in Hollywood.
