I think I'm falling more on the side of not announcing Raiden's plans to completely overtake the board on a calendar. At least not a public calendar.

Seems to me that other houses have VH quaking in their boots...

I find it funny how I say someones facebook status say that they were afraid of Raiden's return....mwahahahahahaha yes! fear us!

Just speaking from a member of a house point of view, I don't like the idea of planning out activities and marking them on the calendar.

Like if VH had put up their Heroes and Villains months on the calendar, Drogyn would have felt like it was copying that, whereas what actually happened was a natural response to what you guys were doing. And it's way cooler to just suddenly see the stuff around the boards, if it's timetabled out people would put to much thought into doing the opposite of what another house is doing!

And I don't think it matters if themed months did overlap, as that just ups the challenge to outdo the other house on the same subject. Now it's up to you to outdo outdo villains (of course you'll fail, but we'll look on with respect 😉)

I honestly think it's cooler Drogyn did villains as a natural response to heroes. And I can see the downside to the calendar because that wouldn't be able to happen...

Honestly...if the mods decide to make it a public thing, then i'd be sad. I love the element of surprise. And now that Raiden is back on it's feet, I want to keep what we have stored a surprise too. Not to mention that everyone in Raiden is pretty much super amped about knocking the other houses out of their socks 😛

If this ends up happening I would hope we had the ability to decline. Although that would probably defeat the purpose.

Why wouldn't it be able to happen? The surprise would be gone but they could still have done it. Probably not as fun if they knew we planned to also do a villain month right after. As I said in my opening post I'm torn, I'm glad this turned to a discussion. It means that people care about the dorm activities. 🙂 The Merrickans have been quite. Lets hope that they're plotting something in silence.

Well I mean, I think it's really cool they did that as a natural response to VH's Hero month. They would have known that Hero month was coming and therefore it wouldn't have been something to respond to like that... and if they were going to respond, they'd have planned it out... or at least probably not done villains because they'd have known we'd be doing villains next month.

Using the calendar wouldn't take away the chance for spontaneity... just in this case it would have. And in many cases, I can see it hindering spontaneity quite a bit...

No, and I didnt even KNOW you had a hero's month when I suggested the villain banner. It was after I made the villain buttons that, I think it was Cait, said you had a hero's month (i knew about your buttons of course!) but I was clueless about the monthly thing. I saw some people in the house had villain in their sigs and since that suits me I ran with it.

I agree, I don't want to announce our house plans... It takes the fun and surprise out of the events, and not to say anyone would, but we don't want originality in question either.

As far as us "quaking in our boots", why would we? We are the winners of the house cup now for 3 years running. 🙂 A couple of banners around the boards isn't going to change that! 🙂

That being said, no one is quaking so much as curious to why there are direct barbs being thrown at only our house on people's banners? With the exception of Scobro's newest banner, it seems that most of the "pride" banners other houses have been sporting lately are not full of house pride so much as VH hate. Just sayin'.

It's not hate. That's their way of saying "we love you". You know, kind of when a boy hit you when you were a kid and grown-ups told you that the boys did it because they liked you? Same thing. It's good to be loved. And lets be honest. Who can blame them? Lets just hope that they one day will be able to say the actual words. 😉

Anyway, to get this thread back on topic, it would make it more convenient to see what other houses are doing, but it takes the fun and surprise out of things if you know what to expect.
