The casting of Caleb in firefly

I assume by you thread title that you believe Caleb came first then Mal.
Mal in Firefly was first.
When that ended Joss brought Nathan over to Buffy.
There have been a quite a few Firefly Characters in Buffy and Angel.
Mal, Jayne, Zoe, River, Saffron, Tracey, Dobson, Captain of the Dortmunder.
Caleb, Hamilton, Jasmine, Ballerina, Bar wench for Liam, Knox & Buffy's unpaid therapist, Ken the hell slave master & Doyle's wannabe brain eater, D'Hoffryn & Dr. who just can't keep himself together.
There are most likely even more but I'm not going to research them.
Then Nathan went on to Dr. Horrible.

He may have been in Firefly first, but I saw Buffy first so I know what you mean.
I know I was TERRIFIED to watch Firefly because I didn't think I could shake that evil image of him from my head.

I'm STILL shocked at how quickly it went away. He's just an AMAZING actor. He's just one of those guys you can't help but love.
Although he STILL scares the CRAP out of me on Buffy.

I love Nathan in Drive as well, for all the 5 ish episodes that it was around for
he's pretty brilliant, i rarely end up comparing his characters, cause he makes them all nice and different.

i LOVEd drive, i couldnt see how it didnt continue, im glad whichever network it was on put the last few episodes up online that were not aired but still.... grr argh! He is just TOO good but in a GREAT way, making anything he's in 27.7% better if not more! lol

Yeah, I managed to grab all 5 episodes of Drive in .avi format.
I doubt it'll be released on DVD, so I'm going to have to be content with what I have.

I knew Firefly came first cos I had seen clips of it before I saw Nathan as Caleb, so I kinda knew him as Mal at the time. But he did a fantastic job as Caleb - so creepy. He made such a good first impression (the scene in the car in Dirty Girls is a favourite - not surprising that it was written by Joss😉) and I knew that this was going to be a great new character. He done such a good job of it that I didn't even relate him to Mal anymore and isn't that a testimony of how great an actor he really is. I think his acting is very underrated.

I saw Buffy & Angel before Firefly, so to me, "Caleb" came before "Mal" too. But I love NF, he's a great actor, & I enjoyed him on both shows.

DISCLAIMER: I'm still bitter that Firefly only got one season! - stupid television executives! 😡

I've still not watched Firefly although I am shopping about for the DVD now.

It will be weird to see NF as a good guy, I rate him my second scariest character in Buffy after 'The Gentlemen'

I hope I find it easy to shake my view of him early on though.
