The Christmas Thread

Anyone else put up decorations and the tree while listening to The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack? I know I do!

I like Christmas 😀 I love the atmosphere of everwhere you go when it's near xmas, it's cold and icy, all the shops are decorated pretty and the xmas songs are on wherever you go 😀 I love buying presents for people, when I actually have the cash that is 🙄 not doing too bad at the mo really, already got a whole bunch 😀 My parents don't really do xmas, so we just go round there on boxing day 🙂 Me, my hubby and our cat, stay in all day, opening and playing with our pressies and have a nice cooked meal 😀 I've never had egg nog in my life 🙄 Never actually seen it either 🙄 Actually I'm not 100% sure I know what it is lol 🙄 😀
 
Iiiiiiiiiih, CHRISTMAS! I love christmas! Glögg! Must! The shops are starting to get out there christmas decorations and lights here in gothenburg and at the supermarket I work at we've started selling gingerbread cookies and....glögg? Must? Are there english words for this? 😀

I'm going to spend christmas eve with My family and then probably surprise my husband and visit his family over new year. They live really high up the country with loads of snow and no daylight and ny father in law works at julkkasjärvi ice hotel, so I really like being there in the winter time. 🙂
 
The novelty of christmas has pretty much worn out on me already. As a kid i loved it, but now it's just a normal day that has a tree in your living room etc. I think it's probably more down to the fact that iv'e had the same surroundings for every christmas and this year will be my first christmas away, so i'm looking forward to it more. I'll miss not having it with the family, but otherwise it just would have been a normal day, id of woke up and done the same things lol.
 
I'm one of those people that hate just about all Christmas music. I like John Lennon's Happy Xmas (War is Over) and that's about it. Paul McCartney's Christmas song makes me was to hurt people... (You've all heard it... "Simply having a wonderful Christmastime" repeated like 10,000,000 times!) It's all pretty much the same songs sang over and over. It's rare to find a new Christmas song, but even when they're new, they get played SO much that I get sick of them anyhow.

I love Christmas though. I adore black Friday! Usually all my Christmas shopping is done by then. I love seeing my family, and spending time with them. But Christmas has become kind of bittersweet at the same time. My brothers both live in LA, and I don't get to see them for Christmas. I hate that. My twin's coming to visit for the first week of December, but it's not the same. I miss them both terribly, and by not seeing them when I should be with my family, it just makes me miss them a lot more.
 
I love christmas although this year I will be working over Christmas. Usually we put our tree up a week before Xmas and the decorations and do all the food shopping. Then on Christmas day usually I wake up at my house with my boyfriend and my family and we open presents, then he goes home and my Dad comes over, then me, my mom, my sister and brother have lots of christmas dinner and finally I go upto my boyfriends house and see all his family and we open our presents together up there too. Its usually quite manic but it's all good fun.

As for Xmas shopping I'm more than halfway through so I'm chuffed with that 🙂 just done some today actually. Xmas songs annoy me as well if they are played too early, a healthy time for me would be 2 weeks before Xmas otherwise I get bored of them. My favourite would have to be Santa Baby. I'll let you know what my tree looks like nearer the time...
 
Love christmas! Love the tree and all the pretty wrapped presents and everything.

I really like a lot of the older Chrisrmas Carols. Like O come, O come Emmanuel and Carol of the Bells.

They are both pretty epic when done right.

I'm so excited to start buying presents. !!!! And then wrapping them!!!! 😀
 
I wish there could be a new filmed Buffy season, no comic season, I mean a reall season like 1 to 7. That's my christmas wish.
Unfortunately I think I can wait a long, long time for this wish!

Me too! Although I'm not fond of being cold, I do love to wrap up in many layers and go out in the snow 😀 Everything looks so different and sparkly! lol 😀 I defiantly feel the xmas vibe with it 😀

So do you guys have christmas calenders airing on TV as well? Or is that just a swedish thing? For us one of the public service tv channells airs a new calender program each year - it's about 15 minutes long and airs once a day from the first of december 'til the 24th when we have out christmas eve. 🙂

Nope. We don't get those. So maybe it is a Swedish thing.
 
I've done around half of my Christmas shopping hopefully I'll get the rest done soon. Well as soon as I've figured out what I'm buying that is!

Anyone open their advent calender today? I don't have one but I used to have them and try not to eat all the chocolates in the first week!
