For the very strong winds, the very cold weather and to the many places that have never seen snow or ice, ever.
What a relief for those people to know there is no such thing as 'climate change'.

We in the Great Lakes area have seen little change in temperatures, in fact if anything, the winters are ordinarily less extreme and so are the summers. I can remember 40°C/104°F weather in Toronto about five times in my life but it's been over 40 years since that has happened.

The cold this year is due to a La Niña year where the undersea volcanoes east of the Philippines have been dormant. There are videos of the undersea volcanoes on YouTube (including one with sound!) that show incandescent rock but nothing boils due to the extreme pressure of 130 atmospheres / 1911 psi at 4400 feet down. The water gets lighter and rises to the surface, spreading heat to a much wider area and the surface of that area of the Pacific gets about 2 degrees hotter, changing weather patterns to the east as the west wind propels it to North America. Since they are dormant this year, there is nothing to stop polar air from coming down, which it naturally will now that days are getting longer and more solar heat is being delivered north of the Arctic Circle to expand the mass of arctic air.

As far as global warming is concerned, we are still not up to the temperatures that allowed the Vikings to settle Greenland and grow crops of rye. There have been some recent experiments with farming on Greenland but no one has grown enough crops to actually feed a settlement. This is important because it is a reliable thermometer from a time when thermometers did not exist and it shows that the Little Ice Age we are coming out of was the anomaly, not the more modern high temperatures.

Dude! Spoilers much! Floki just brought his people there this last episode. Now you go and ruin it.

Over the holidays we got a total of one day of snow, pffft! Seemingly England got it bad though. Maybe climate change will turn Scotland into the Bahamas and we'll have the most relaxing apocalypse ever.

I'd be interested to see where mention is made of undersea volcanoes east of the Philippine Isles having anything to do with El Nino or La Nino. The hot or cold water scenario's are first noticed on the western coastal fishing towns of Mexico.
Climate change is more to do with Global climate change although certain effects of it are noted in individual areas. There are variations in temperatures naturally but the current problem is caused by humans bringing about the variations prior to when the changes should have naturally occurred.

The surface currents run from west to east in the part of the Pacific at the latitude of Mexico. If the surface currents are warmer all of North America will be warmer because the air above the currents is heated by the currents and it just keeps going eastward over the continent.

Climate change has been considered to be the "excess" of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere but internal combustion engines also increase the temperature by the rejected heat that is part of its inefficiency. 350 ppm CO2 is considered to be the neutral point. During the little ice age, the CO2 went down to 285 ppm but now it is at about 410 ppm. During the era of the dinosaurs, CO2 was at 1100 ppm and the world was 5°C warmer and the end of snowball Earth, volcanic eruptions were assumed to bring the CO2 level up to 7000 ppm which was enough to melt the snow and ice. Since there were few plants to absorb the CO2, this stayed in the air long enough after the volcanic eruptions that generated it for trees to flourish. (Also during the era of the dinosaurs, the oxygen level was at 30% which was necessary for the growth of oversized animals.) In fact, CO2 does not absorb any wavelengths shorter than 10 micrometres so with the incandescence of the Earth being in the range of 8 to 14 micrometres, the effect of CO2 will diminish as temperatures rise.

Yep 45 C is hot but not that hot. I can remember being stood outside the Parkerville Volunteer Bushfire Brigade in my fire fighting overalls waiting to go to a bushfire.
It was 46.2C the hottest it has ever been in W.A.
You need to figure into it the wind, if the wind is from the centre of Australia the wind itself can be hot.
Look on the bright, side the hot air will kill off the flies.

I ran my reticulation today for near on 4 hours (to cover the property) and the water was still running warm by the time I turned it off! Wasnt even hot today. Must have got hot in the trucks.

It got so cold tonight that I needed a jumper, in summer!!! Whats that about!? Hopefully no big fires this year.

I look forward to dead flies. Summer is so much easier than winter was!
*Throws hot wind at cold people

OccaQuokka,
it is a guarantee there will be big fires. People build houses in the bush with trees and shrubs up to the house walls, they build houses in fire-prone materials with no or very little fire preventative planting and often no proper building practises. Then there is the tree huggers planting loads of trees which all drop leaf while the politicians cut finances to fire prevention agencies.

That predicted 45C, it got to 47C, that about 120.7 F.
Still, no shark attacks that day.

Anthony Cordova,
yep I do live in Australia.

Illyrian, are you from Australia?
They used to sell Shark at the fish 'n' chips shops. It was lovely a nice bit of fried and battered shark.
