The comic or as a book

Hey guys,
Don't get me wrong I like the comics and all but I think a rich story like Buffy should be presented in another way than comics. In a book we would be able to dwell more into the story I think it would be closer to The TV show than in a comic some pics included will help us better. Comics pack things together because there is just not enough space!
How'd you feel?
 
No I really like it as a comic book, I think its working really well! I don't think I would like a book as much cuz the comics we actually get to see the characters and hear them speak!

I'm not sure you do get more story in a book. You get more quicker.

Consider this. Suppose the comic continues to be as popular as it has been, and it goes beyond it's proposed 50 issue run. Suppose in 7 years it's as popular and icnonically ingrained into society as X Men, or Spider Man is today. Well then your talking a recast movie. The Buffyverse gets another life. How much story do those lucky people have, and have to look forward to.
 
I'm loving the comic because its so visual and in that respect more like tv. Plus i'v been burned by Buffy novels in the past - so few are any good.

I was thinking along the same lines as Nerd4hire and wondering if the comic will eventually lead to new ventures for the Buffyverse in the future - though i'd hate to be the new actors cast in the film. 'Our' actors, particularly JM and SMG cast long shadows and i suspect many of us obsessive fans will be picky and hard to please should a film ever eventuate.
 
I agree with n4h, I prefer a comic because of the imagery. I find reading some longer comics I get just as involved in them as I do with a good book. Having said that I wouldn't have started reading comics if it wasn't for season eight, fray or the tales. I used to see it as a sort of younger immature medium, but Joss' style of writing never looses my interest.
 
A true canon novel would be interesing, I'd be all over that. Has Joss written any non-comic book, non-scripty fiction? Dunno. Anyways, I'm fine with comics, it's just the waiting that bugs.

Comics can be as simple or complex as the creators want. It's almost like you have to learn how to read them. I have to read the Buffy ones two or three times just to absorb it all. There's always some subtle thing happening in some little nook or cranny that you don't notice the 1st time around. These Buffy ones are dense, just in terms of how much plot development is cranked out per issue. But yeah, you kinda miss the more elaborate, leisurely paced conversations of the characters on the show.
 
i always said that if TV movies or DVD movies got shot down, that Joss would pick it up in comic form. he writes so well for comics, and i think the BTVS world fits right into the comic genre.
one thing i would like to see though, is the wonderful Amber Benson stepping up to the plate. she wrote great comic stories for the Willow and Tara collection, as well as Tales of the Slayers. i think she would fit in nicely.
 
I guess if it wore in book form we wouldnt wait as much for what happens next but i enjoy having it in comic form....i guess as long as i had something continuing the buffyverse id read it.
