Is it me or did Dana seem like a super slayer? Able to dodge tranquilizers at point blank range, kick down metal doors, rip off cages, and on top of that she never received any slayer training.
 
i've always believed that it has something to do with Dana's mental problems. becoming a Slayer affected her in ways that differed from the others. she had vivid dreams about the deaths of each Slayer before her, to the point where she confused the lives of past Slayers with her own past, believing that Spike was the one who killed her family and kept her locked up for God knows how long. but what she was remembering was the last moments of the Slayers Spike killed...the Chinese girl in the Boxer Rebellion, and Nikki.
all Slayers are capable of what Dana did. being trained isn't what gives a Slayer her strenght. the strength comes from being Chosen. the training only helps in harnassing that power, working it into an asset, a weapon, instead of uncontrolable power.

Yeah I wasn't saying the traning gave her the strength I was referring to her not being trained for her fighting skills, because she was kicking some experienced vampire asses and wasn't trained.
 
but like i said, she had access to the memories of ever Slayer to come before her...all Slayers do, Dana just a little more connect.
every Slayer is capable of fighting and killing a demon without training. training just helps them harness that power a little better.
 
It's been touched upon before, namely in Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Kendra came to visit, Buffy said that emotion is what makes a slayer great.

Hate is one of the strongest emotions there is, and Dana was fuelled by hate towards Spike, though in fact it wasn't actually Spike she wanted.

When you're pissed enough, you push yourself to the limit, and that's exactly what she did.

Agree completely. i also think that the fact that Dana was crazy means she didn't have any way of knowing that she didn't really know what she was doing (if that makes sense). She has dreams and memories that tell her to kill so that's what she does. She dosen't have the capacity to descriminate about right and wrong, danger, skill and who she is killing. she just does it making her an incredibly powerful, dangerous slayer.
 
Totally agree with JCC and Tranquility but maybe because of how prolific her dreams were would have something to do with her skill level. She can dodge tranqs and stuff because she feels like she's done similar things before.

Didn't seem to super to me.. just regular slayer. Buffy can dodge stuff and break open jail bars etc. Anyway I suppose fighting with those huge guys they have at mental institutions would give you some practice 😛 I love this episode, I forget how funny it is until I watch it again. I love when Spike gets tossed out the window, "Thought I'd see what it feels like to bounce off the pavement" :lmao: funniest Spike line ever. And I love the scene where the cop has a gun to her, and then it cuts to her walking out with blood on her face, SWEET.
 
i love this episode too but always find the continuity a bit lacking - i mean, Spike's the one who 'knows' slayers and knows about the 'sunnydale surprise' yet he dosen't put two and two together and work out that Dana is a slayer? I always kind of thought that sucked.
Also am i right in thinking that team angel didn't know about the slayer spell at all? this means buffy didn't tell Angel about it after the event or did they lose any memory of it in the whole memory being wiped/save connor/take over W&H deal? Cos it makes no sense that Lorne, who's nursed a dying Faith in Orpheus, has no comprehension of there being more than one slayer - which he knew wasn't true even before the sunnydale spell ... (sorry, is this making sense?)

People who have "insanity issues" have been known to be hard to physically contain (in the real world) mostly due to the fact that they do not self-limit themselves with respect to others. What I'm saying is that most normal, rational people will not use their entire strength when fighting. There is some part of them that is resistant to doing that for fear of really hurting someone. The "insane" don't have that self-limitation. Mix that with slayer strength, and you get...what you saw.

She was a bit more feral and had that fun 'nutso person strength'. Kinda like she was hopped up on PCP. Able to push her body without fear of consequences, which is even more dramatic with Slayer qualities, cause she's coocoo for cocoapuffs.
 
i think with the amount of mental preasure that Dana had on her would cause a slayer to go "super" so to speak. Maybe that kind of thing has an effect on slayers
