My buddies have a theory that I think is kind of lame - but it's a much different post than "did you think".

My pal has a theory that Crossbow's equal death for a Slayer. Kendra died after holding a crossbow. Buffy died after using a crossbow (twice if you consider The Wish) and I'm wondering what you guys think about that?

Obviously Spike's Slain Slayers (try saying that five times fast) didn't have the crossbow - if I can recall... so I think the whole thing is a little bit rubbish, but anytime we pull out the DVDs for a day of sitting around with the Buffster he makes damn well sure to bring this up.

Any validity to his theory?

Nah, cuz in season 7 Kennedy says she wants to use the crossbow when they go to fight the first ubervamp, she uses it to kill Bringers and she lives!
 
Ugh, the crossbows always annoyed me. Seemed like so often, either the slayer in question would miss the shot, or wouldn't be able to load in time, or something would jam or whatever, then they'd get tackled, punched...

Slayers just need a good holywater supersoaker, or a can of hairspray and a bic. But then, no fun punchy fight scenes.

Good point GB - remember the Season 6 Halloween Episode when Spike says "I'm a rebel, you're an idiot" shoots the vamp with the crossbow and then while reloading gets smacked down by a charging vamp.

Crossbows = Yuck. Need a long bow like Faith picked up in Season 3

Amanda, and other slayers died in the cave, but you could say it has more to do with slayers who have the conventional chosen line. I'm not sure though. Did Amanda have a crossbow in the cave?

Was Buffy using a crossbow in The Gift. I can't remember it. It wouldn't matter though, because the line passed through Faith at that time.

Faith didn't actually die in her fight with Buffy, but she was using a bow in the previous scene.

As you say though, there's still Nikki and the Chinese slayer - no crossbows.
 
A crossbow killed miss kitty fantastico...Sad...so very sad.

Does that enter in you theory in any way?
 
WHAT!?! NOOOOO not Kitty Fantastico ... i think you need to start a thread mogwald to get to the bottom of where Kitty actually went

*pats you* I know its painful...but shes in a better place now.
She was really killed by a crossbow. Dawn says so herself in Season 7.

DAWN: Xander, my crossbow is not out here. I told you, I don’t leave crossbows around all willy-nilly. Not since that time with Miss Kitty Fantastico.

Doesnt mean the cat was killed. Anything could have happened. Could have been a near miss or something. I know if I almost hit a cat with a crossbow I'd never go near them again.
 
Not necessarily. Anything could have happened to the cat. she could have ran away (after nearly getting hit with a crossbow, who'd blame her? 😛).

Besides, How do we know she wasnt always there. We only ever saw her once anyway. Just cos she wasnt in shot, doesnt mean she wasnt in another room or outside or something 😛
 
Fine ok it could have been there! But it was heavily implyed that the cat was killed.
 
Poor kitty...we should rename the thread. Miss Kitty's Memorial. Lol.
