Buffy knocked on Spike's crypt door that night.
Immediately he opened the door and murmured "Hello?"
Buffy said, "Hi." She blushed.
Buffy didn't know why but she has had a habit of doing that every time she was around him.
Spike stood there in surprise.
"So can I come in?" Buffy smiled at Spike.
"Oh yeah sure! You know knocking is a new venue for you. You usually just barge right in." Spike said with a smirk
"So why did you come?" Spike inquired as he fixed himself and Buffy a drink.
"I wanted to ask you something." Buffy didn't look at him
"Yeah?" Spike said surprised. "What was it?"
"Ever since Dracula came and left I've been having some questions, and really weird dreams." Buffy began. "These questions are about my power. Dracula said he saw darkness in it and my dreams are of the past slayers. The slayer that are dead now."
"Yes? So?" Spike urged.
"I want to know how you killed those slayers. I want to know what they did to mess up, to get killed. I want to know how they were weak." She continued. "I need to know." She ended desperately.
That was a fortnight ago. Spike had shown her how he killed them and what their weaknesses were. Every night Spike had her over at his crypt training and fighting a different demon every night. But Buffy still hadn't gotten the answers she needed the most.
"Ok lets review." Spike said advancing on her. "First lesson:"
"Always reach for your weapon. You already have yours." Buffy finished grabbing her stake before Spike had even vamped out.
"Good Second lesson:" Spike advanced on her again.
"Stay focused." Buffy said blocking a kick from Spike.
"Don't be distracted" She blocked a punch he threw at her and side kicked him in the stomach.
"Two seconds distraction will get you killed. And Spike"¦why are you looking at my chest?" Buffy smiled and Spike looked stunned. She kicked his feet out from under him and flattened him.
"What?" Spike asked her.
"Distraction! Get on with it." Buffy egged him on
"Every vampire is different. Different tactics, different kicks, different defenses. You must be able to adapt to all with no notice. One split second that you don't know what you're doing, you're dead."
Buffy blocked two punches and round kicked Spike in the back.
"This is the dance we do."
Buffy kicked him again.
"A dance where only one person will survive. A dance to the death."
Spike landed a punch to Buffy's jaw. She stumbled back but she was at him again in a half second.
"Decide now that your gonna survive. Decide now that you will be the one left standing"¦"
Spike threw two consecutive punches at Buffy's stomach. They landed and left Buffy winded. He lifted his leg straight up and brought it down on Buffy's back.
""¦because if you don't decide now that you'll be there when it ends, you won't be. You're dead."
Buffy stood up and kicked Spike across the room and started back at him.
"Every slayer has a death wish. A fantasy A thirst to know. To know what it feels like"¦"
Spike backhanded Buffy across her face, and at the same time Buffy brought her palm up. It connected with Spike's nose.
""¦.death. And every slayer gets that wish. Sooner or later a vampire is going to grant that wish. That vamp will have himself a really good day. I've already had two."
Buffy hit Spike four times before he could hit her back. And once he was free he missed her by a good two feet.
"That is the dance they do. He makes himself known to her and then"¦"
Spike kicked Buffy in the side. Buffy stood up and punched him in the back of the head .
"They dance."
Like a dance Spike and Buffy went at it, throwing punches and kicks never ceasing. Never losing the feel of skin on skin. Flashes of how he killed the other slayers zoomed in Spike's head. Exactly where they messed up, how their weaknesses got them killed.
"Don't let the vampire lead. Take control. And whatever you do"¦"
Spike jerked Buffy toward him. Their bodies collided. Flesh on flesh. But that only distracted Buffy as Spike knew it would.
""¦don't tango. He'll seduce you if you tango. He'll take the lead. Don't do that."
Spike continued to go about his tango weaving in and out of her punches and kicks. Watching her heart pumping faster and faster, watching her skin glisten with sweat. She was so hot"¦
"Start in a slow waltz and move faster"¦because you don't want to miss a beat. Every
beat is precious. Just let the moves flow. This dance"¦is the most important thing in the slayer's life."
Spike had realized that he had been sucked into his own game. His tango had been turned in to her tango.
"This dance"¦is the one thing the slayer has been waiting for her entire life."
Buffy had wised up to his game. Waltz. Punch, kick, punch, and duck.
She was learning fast. She hadn't missed a hit.
"And in the end it doesn't matter"¦where he tripped"¦where she messed up"
Spike was getting weaker as Buffy advanced onto him. She was getting stronger. He knew she was taking control.
"It doesn't matter what punches or kicks you landed or missed. The only thing that matters"¦"
Buffy bore down on him kicking, punching, and ducking at the exact right moments. Dodging blows and landing them. Kicking high and low.
"Is"¦"
Spike let her take him over. He had wanted to know her. To love her and now he could. He was his chance was standing in front of him
She kissed him. Their hands roamed each other's bodies. Spike pulled her down onto his bed and pulled off her top. She worked on his bottoms.
She never wanted this dance to end.
