The Dander Ship?

I've noticed a couple of hints for a possible Dander ship in the last 2 Season 8 issues. (Dawn/Xander would be Dander, right?) They got me to thinking. Are there any actual Dander shippers? I'm sure there are, but are there any who would be willing to admit it?

Is the age difference too strange to consider? I don't think so. he'd be what? Late twenties. She'd be around twenty, wouldn't she? That's not that strange. They seem to like each other. She used to have a crush on him. What's really wrong with that one? I think they'd make a cute couple.

I think it would be wrong because Xander sees her as a lil sister and Dawn has just a crush . But if that wasn't the case then I think they would make a cute couple 😀

I haven't read the comics so I don't really know how the characters developed after the TV series but I think it would be weird! I think of him as an older brother figure for Dawn, not a lover. Brotherly love... Eww but then again, I suppose it is better than Bander 😉

There are definitely Dander shippers around. I've seen at least 2 Dander banners on the Boards since I joined, so there's got to be some.
The age difference is not too awkward. Xander is about Buffy's age, right? Well in s5 Dawn was 14 and Buffy 20, that's 6 years, that's not too bad. BUT I think it's still awkward, not because of age, but because of who they are. Dawn was always the little one, the baby, kind of everyone's little sister. So that's what makes me cringe there.

Dawn and Xander is a little weird, mainly because all i can think of is the time she was staring at him, completely besotted while she had ice-cream all around her mouth. But that was then, she's all grown up now and if she's never going to meet Connor then I could probably quite like Dander.

I think I have to say ewww. Maybe a sweet relationship, but a little gross...Following on from what Social Suicide said, it's not about age, it's not about WHO they are, but it's about what they've been through together. Something about it makes me feel ookier about it then the thought of Buffy and Giles... It's just... Not right... She's... I dunno... I don't even know how to say it... But... Yuck... That's it. Yuck.

When the series was on-air, I thought the concept of the couple was plain...yucky. Because the age difference was significant then. He was in his twenties and she was in her mid-teens....and was technically one and a half. Haha. But now as they've both gotten older the age gap has closed and with how much time they're spending together and how much Xander is being the kind, listening-to-her, helping one....I guess it could be kinda cute.

I mean it's the exact same age difference that was between my Mom and Dad so that's not what bothers me...but maybe they've fallen into the Friend Zone or rather the Sibling Zone and it now might be a little too weird. I would have to actually see it happen to decide whether I liked it or not, I think, haha.

Not everybody reads the comics, so I'll tell you Dawn is going through transformations, right now - and not just the college years are a time when you change, transformations - at present she's a centaur.

I want to see Dander right now, because it will make such a wild image. I see it against a red sunset. Xander taken over by the moment locked in full-on kiss with Dawn as a centaur. Wouldn't that just be nuts? But in a cool kind of way, I think.

Which is less acceptable? Dawn/Xander, or Dawn/Spike?

I think Dawn/Spike is less acceptable. He slept with her sister. It would be kinda incestuous. Besides, if anyone looks at Dawn like a little sister/cousin, it's Spike.

I am a huge dander shipper and the other big huge dander shipper would be Jess aka wanabeeslayer.... Honestly they would make such a cute couple...

A) the age thing thats just so freaking stupid... They arent that spaced apart look at Buffy and Angel as well as Buffy and Spike... then actually even look at the real world... Me and my Fiancee are 7 years apart.. He's 27 and i'm 20... Theres pleanty of people who date younger than themselves

B) If they were to get together Xander would treat her better than any other guy why? Because he already loves her.

C) Just because he "thinks" or "Thought" of her as a little sister when she was younger... doesn't mean he still does. Think about it how many girls on the boards have older brothers? and how many of those Older brother's friends thought of you as their little sister type too? and how many times did that older brother's friends get crushes on the "little sister" after she blossomed!? it happens all the time in the real world.. Dawn isn't a kid anymore she's a young woman and Xander is probley starting to notice that so that "Little Sister" feeling he had is probley turning into full on "Hey look she's a woman and she is hot" feelings

D) They are so alike... they are both the Outcast types.. Neither one of them really fit in with the group.. They aren't magical, or have super strength. So they know how the other one feels... they are on the same playing field as one another. Plus you know Dawn has always been there for Xander and like wise... Dawn was their when Anya died... I'm sure that takes a part in how Xander's feelings might change.

But yeah like i said I think they would make an awesome couple they are just too cute not too 🙂

I find it rather disturbing. I know it's not much of an age difference, but I see Dawn as a little girl, and Xander is college age. So I don't think it's really legal. Point is, I think it's icky. And Spike even more, because he's a lot older than her. I can only picture Dawn with her own age, like the one she met in Halloween, or Connor.

I have never been a HUGE huge Dander shipper, but reading the (recaps of) season eight, and thinking over how the two character have grown since season 5, I would be behind it if it were to happen.

Buffy & Angel had much more of an age difference than those two to say the least, and I think now that Dawn's character is starting to get older that age gap is getting smaller, you know? A friend of mine is dating a guy over a decade older than her (and I did have my hesitations at first, I'll be honest), but they really have a great thing going for them. Dawn is not a fourteen year old anymore, which makes a world of difference. I agree that as a woman in her early twenties, she would have a much better chance with Xander. And they are the characters that would have a friendship first-- which can be really touching. They already understand each other and have a connection that could really go far in a romantic relationship.

I agree that they seemed to have a lot more like a cousin or brotherly & sisterly kind of relationship earlier in the series (which especially makes sense because she was 14, he was much older), but I think that they both could use some romance that maybe doesn't end in horrific death or transformations. I think that they would have a lot of couple potential, and especially with Buffy being Dawn's sister, it could create a really funny dynamic between she and Xander :silly:

Never been a big fan of hook ups and relationships between major characters that after many years suddenly realize they where made for each other.

It hasn't been much of that in Buffy though, which I am glad of. (I do think Angel is a bit worse in that area)

I think that they would possibly make a cute couple and after reading Angels Baby's post I completely agree with D. And the age difference isnt that big of a deal and so what if they were like brother and sister has anyone seen Cluless becasue they were step siblings for a while and they still made a really cute couple. :smile:

Lots of those fictional comparisons are possible. eg. Chandler/Monica from Friends. Hermione/Ron. The most fitting here would be Harry/Ginny, I think.

Personally, I don't see what the big hub bub is about. Sure Xander was kinda big brothery to her but that was years ago. Their relationship now is very much that of friends and I think there has been innuendo building with them throughout the whole of season 8. Also I think they are grooming (no pun intended) Dawn to be ready for a relationship with Xander. She is clearly sexually active or at least has been and have you seen her as a centaur? Dawn is to be seen as a woman now, not as the baby sister. I think Dander would be great. Just for Buffy's reaction alone.

Yeah Buffy's Reaction is going to be interesting if it ever does happen.. on one hand Xander is her best friend and she's going to think Dawn is too young and that its just wrong but you know truthfully like i said before Xander is going to be the one person thats going to be the best for her because he already loves her.. knowing Joss though it wont last for some reason but I still believe that he wouldn't intentionally hurt her nor her hurt him because of the love they already share..
