This band just toured through my city and although I didn't see them in concert I heard them on an interview over the radio. They were really interesting to listen to and seemed pretty cool. The are from the UK. I *luved* the song they played after that so I ordered the cd online and just received it yesterday! It is a really fun cd and it really rocks! My favorite song is titled, I Believe in a Thing Called Love.

Has anyone else listened to this cd? Do you like it or dislike it?

I've seen the video for 'I believe in a thing called love' a million times on mtv. At first I was like whoa. But after a while I started to like it. I don't have the cd, but I like their single. I'm gonna check out the cd soon.

I like the Darkness. They have been called a Queen tribute band by British critics and I kind of see that point but they seem to have a good sense of humour and don't take themselves too seriously, unlike many rock bands. Listen to their Christmas single for the double entendre backing vocals 🙂

Sorry..They are still playing 'I believe in a thing called love' here and that song really annoys me..Not saying that they are not a cool band..just this song...

woooo The Darkness!! (UKer here)
They are sooo funny!! And also very very good, saw them live once, very good!! I'm going to see them at an annual concert in august 🙂

Guessing I shouldn't go off into a rant about why they are so bad then as you all seem to like them.
Go for it Ash🙂 Chas was asking for all opinions as I read it...

I am totally asking for opinions! lol I like to hear what everyone has to say! Ashsan-go for it! Tell me what you think. They are not very popular here and so I have only heard that one song (on the radio)...once! And it was on our independent rock station, which means it still is not getting full force publicity. I would like to see their video for I Believe in a Thing Called Love, but I do not get cable. Maybe one day I will! 🙂

Mr. Pointy-they do seem so fun! I enjoy people with a lot of humour in their lives and are just looking to enjoy life! That is how I perceived them on their interview and that is what interested me from the start!

Anyway, thanks everybody for posting your opinions and such!

I kind of hate them because of them and because of the media's opinions about them. First off I hate Justin Whathisface's voice, it's not funny it's just annoying. Secondly glam rock died a long time ago for a reason, leave it be dead. Thirdly, you're not fit Justin, find some clothes. Fourthly, they're songs are so so in my opinion. Fifthly, their songs are ALL about love, it's okay being in love but I hate hearing 102 songs about it.

(lot of Thlys there)

Now onto the media, they seem to praise them constantly. They say they are the "saviours of rock", since when has rock needed saving? It's not like it died in the 80s when glam rock did. Rock has impoved (in other words, no more spandex) yet the darkness seem to be determined to crawl it back into the past. All the awards ceremonies praise them because they are niche and everyone takes that as a reason to like them. Someone I know who likes them takes the fact they won like 4 Brit awards as proof that they are good. I just asked him "So do you like Robbie Williams now? He's won about 11."

Think thats my rant ^_^

LOL! Well, I received your rant and very much respect your opinion! It seems like all the reasons you hate them is why I love them! Interesting, huh? I mean...what is there not to love about a shaggy and un-fit rocker jumping around busting out of a leopard print spandex suit screaming, "I Believe in a Think Called Love" on stage in the lime light?! 😀

Just curious...a bit off subject, what are you favorite bands/vocalists? There actually is a thread in Pltz Glrb about that...if you get a chance go in there and post. I'm most curious to your musical tastes. Thanks for the input, Ashsan!

AshSan, its good to see somone being honestand risk offending people (finally!) but theres no need to vend your feelings for timberlake here! 😛

i dont love the darkness but i dont dislike them, its good to see one of the first pop bands in a long time not be manufactured ****.

i fear they might have got to big and the joke worn a bit thin, i had a friend see them supporting another band and they played their first set as a normal band then come out in the spandex, was supposed to be a sight!

good too see people having a Faldor type laid back approach 😀

although my mate Pete hates them and wants them to die.

Did I moan about Timberlake, I mean I can but its off topic. Unless you mean the Justin thing, as thats the lead singers name (well he has a different surname from Whatshisface) I will post in that thread Chasity.

My friend Tim has liked them for over a year, saw them at a random gig before they became big and I think its good that he likes them before they became famous but I feel that some people like them now because they are popular.

I know we always hate when our favorite underground bands get famous and then EVERYBODY loves them but it is good for the bands too! I mean they are making the money and the fame that they probably desire...sometimes some songs do get played out though. I know what you are talking about, AshSan...

Thanks for posting, Faldor! Haven't seen you around in awhile. 😀

I knew who they were and what they're songs were like last year as i went to Knebworth to see Robbie Williams. They were one of the supporting acts as were Kelly Osbourne and Moby. I have there album and it's wickid!

I'm from the UK lol.

I Believe In A Thing Called Love is the only thing I've heard of them. I think it's a good song. I burned it onto a CD>

The Darkness are the best UK export for ages and they play their OWN instruments and music which is different cause the UK charts are always piled high with manufactured boy bands and one hit wonders or, your international artists (britney, jt, christina ect) I don't care if the Glam Rock thing is out dated... hey, I believe in a thing calllleddd lovvvvveeeeee.... *head banging time*... Im back... they are really good and different and don't take what they are doing really seriously... unlike all the other performers.
