After having quite a few intellectual debates on the board and noticing that there was no game assigned to this, I decided to make a thread.

I was thinking we could do two groups of five, in which they are assigned are topic and each group is given a stance on which they must back up. Even though you may not agree with this position, you must still do your best to win.

Possibly we could have two judges with an unbiased view of the debate.

The following will be the list of debaters and team which they are assigned to:

Who are the judges? Maybe we should ask N4H, since I definitely wouldn't want to be the one debating against him 🙂
 
C'I be on elmo's team? i don't think I could argue well against someone who gives me chocolate milk...

Damn Comma...posts this and then bolts!!

I think it'll be fun to argue against some things, especially in the buffyverse, that I support. I think it will help us to see the other sides of certain arguments and learn to respect everyone's opinions...not that any of us here have any issue with that.
 
Can I be a judge? Can judge's make Simon Cowel style comments? Cause man, I have been holding back some comments back, like...

"Yes Sweetie...I know that came directly from God's mouth to your ear, but for the rest of us not so blessed, would you mind giving your arguement a little support, other than the fact you just said it, so it must be true."

I'm not feeling Simon right now...he was a little harsh of our rendition of Over the Rainbow...
 
How possible is it to have unbiased judges? Also if it's gonna get pointlessly cruel I'd rather not take part. Intelligent debate is wonderful to take part in but arguments are rather common.
 
I'm sure N4H and Jacklyn are capable of being impartial and seeing who debates their side better. Also as several moderators are taking an active part in this thread, any attempts to become pointlessly cruel will be nipped in the bud ASAP. I for one am pretty sick and tired of pointlessly cruel at this point.

I'm interested. It might be better to just find out how many are interested and get the judge (whoever ends up taking the role) to assign teams, because otherwise it could get a bit shaky. And Topic Choice is going to be a killer. 😀 Anyway, I do love a good debate, so I'll take part in any necessary capacity.
 
Is there something wrong with team 2 since almost everyone wants to be on team 1 ?!! Anyway I'd love to be on either team (team 2 then I guess), if I may..?

So I'm making the list of members as we speak and once I have the teams (of course approved by the Moderators of this Debate) we can begin.

Ok, that was childish and uncomparably corny, but yet I had to say it.
