The Depth of Adam

I didn't like Adam at all. I actually liked the idea of the Initiative but I wish the initiative was "the big bad" of season four not Adam. I understand he was created by them but I mean I wish he wasnt there at all. I would have liked it better if the Initiative were trying to use the demons they captured to take over the world or something lol. I hated Adam he was annoying and "impossible" to kill. Im glad he is goneee.

In my opinion, Adam was a very interesting character and I also think it's a pity that he didn't get more depth. The basic concept of Adam was great and I hoped that we find out a bit more about him...
Adam wanted to understand the world and its functions, so he became a murderer to research humans and other creatures, and if you ask me, I would say that's a very sad story.
Yeah, he was one of my favorite Big Bads.

I liked how he thought. It was interesting. I love the line, "I've been thinking about the world." I would have liked to see him develop more, but they just don't have the time for Big Bads to develop and the characters in 42-44 minutes, so we get what was given, I guess.

I like biology so I kind of understood Adam's fascination, but it didn't work very well for a t.v. villain. But if he was Walsh's general and henchman loyal henchman until he becomes aware of the world and switched to good, turning on walsh at the end, would have been more interesting. At least it would for me. For all of his self awareness on the show he still followed walsh's orders. That definitely was a big negative.

I think if we could have gotten to know Adam when he was human... or bits of him when he was just human... And maybe he could have had a bit of a personality or something, I would have liked him more. But I would have rathered Maggie Walsh be the "big bad" of season 4. There was something there.. but then they killed her. She could have used a crazy blend of psychology and science to try and take Buffy and gang down and out. And also done the same to Riley to have him turn on her... it could have been great.

I think if Adam had been made from a certain Initiative recruit by the name of 'Riley', he would probably be everyone's favorite Big Bad. Though I guess it would've made for an Angelus redux, not to mention Buffy didn't love Riley nearly as much as she did Angel.

I'm not a Riley-hater but actually, if Adam had been a Riley cyborg I think I would have liked him better. I think it was hard to connect to Adam because we didn't know Adam before he was the monster he was. Maybe it would have hit home harder if it had been Forrest or Graham that was turned, but we had no emotional investment in Adam. Plus, he just seemed like a thrown together (no pun intended) big bad. Maybe just the whole idea that because he was part demon, part human, part computer...he just didn't seem that strong and got annoyed when Buffy couldn't just take him out.

I like they were trying to make the Maggie/Adam relationship mirror the Buffy/Giles. Adam/Buffy both were tools for their 'handlers' purpose. They could have made Adam so much better.

I thought they were trying to mirror the Buffy/Giles relationship with Riley/Maggie. In one of the episodes, Adam even says something about "our mother" to Riley, referring to Maggie and Riley responds with, "She's not my mother, I have a mother." I mean, Maggie definitely acts like Adam is her "son," he creation, but there is a strong sense that Riley and Maggie have more of a mother/son thing too. She even says to him in an episode, "A college boy in love" which would cross the line if they didn't have a more personal relationship. But, at the end of the day, Maggie did care for Riley, but she still cared more about the mission and playing by the rules where as Giles and Buffy will throw the rulebook out the window to do what's right and it usually benefits them.
