Mr. Pole officially supports this movie...

EW is reporting that
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese are getting back together.

The director/actor duo are teaming up again for Paramount’s adaptation of Erik Larson’s 2003 book The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and the Madness at the Fair that Changed America, EW has confirmed.Billy Ray (The Hunger Games, Captain Phillips) is writing the script, and DiCaprio will play Dr. H. H. Holmes, a serial killer whom Deadline — which first reported the news— describes as “the 19th-century equivalent of Hannibal Lecter.”

The book is based on the true story of Holmes, the man behind the “Murder Castle” at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair. He ultimately confessed to murdering 27 people, and may have killed as many as 200.

It's about time! It's an amazing story. I've read numerous books and watched a few documentaries about it. I can't wait.

I claim this post as my own. *claimed*
This is one of those true stories that you don't believe is real until you read about it. That twisted house of horrors with fake doors and a slide down to the murder basement. Urgh.

H.H Holmes was one of the worst serial killers there ever was. I think this a story that needs to be told, as long as they don't glamorize it.

H.H. Holmes: America's First Serial Killer is one... not sure about netflix but it's on Amazon Prime. It's about the best one.. books are better though!

It always amazes me, every time that I hear about something like this, how so many people can just disappear, and the person doing it never gets caught disposing of bodies, or even be seen with any of the victims before they died.

Yeah, this guy went to some trouble to dispose of the bodies as I understand it. But basically he was running a hotel, not moving around in any way, and yet he killed...dozens I think.
At least he was caught because it was eventually discovered that he had a connection to one of his victims.

lol this book's been on my reading list for ages but I never got to it lol
Here ya go dollface

Some of it was also because the victims were foreign and/or immigrants, but most was because of the fair. They came in for the fair so they weren't really 'expected' back.. it was, if I recall correctly, only after the fair ended before many of them went 'missing'.

Sorry for the double post Miss Buffy... the other was too edit to edit.

Do you know why it was called the White City?

@GwenRaiden " Is it to do with the lights on the buildings? Or something" No, the park built the buildings, statues and everything and then put plaster of paris on them so everything was white and pristine and shiny. So you have this big beacon of hope and wonders, with the first ever goodyear blimp, rides, and things people in the country generally had not seen at the time. Then a block away you have this guy suffocating everyone and burning the bodies.

Billy Ray has signed on to write the screenplay. "Between the book option and Ray’s writing fees, this is a solid seven figure commitment, and much more when the picture gets made." They have got to be expecting this to be a massive monster of a movie.
